The opportunity

 

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Consultant to join our team in Croatia on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will act as an advisor, working closely with the current Payroll Manager to review, optimize, and improve payroll processes. This role requires expert knowledge of Croatian payroll laws and payroll systems, particularly SAP Payroll and SuccessFactors software. The Payroll Consultant will directly report to the Senior Director for Global Payroll and will be expected to identify gaps and opportunities to enhance the payroll system.

How you’ll spend your day

 

  • Compliance: Ensure all payroll processes comply with Croatian labor laws, tax regulations, and social security obligations. Stay updated on any legislative changes that may affect payroll processing.
  • Initiative and Innovation: Proactively identify gaps and opportunities within current payroll processes. Develop and implement strategies to address issues and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Consultation: Provide expert advice and support on payroll best practices, tax implications, and compliance issues. Work with the team to implement process improvements.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll reports to relevant authorities, including tax offices and social security institutions. Generate periodic payroll reports for management and other stakeholders.
  • Systems Management: Work with payroll software and systems to streamline processes, ensure data integrity, and troubleshoot issues. Provide recommendations for system improvements or changes.
  • Payroll Support: Collaborate with the current Payroll Manager to address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues, including employee queries on salary, deductions, and other concerns.
  • Audits: Assist with internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.

Your experience and qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role in Croatia.
  • Knowledge: Expert understanding of Croatian labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements. Proficiency in SAP Payroll and SuccessFactors software.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in Croatian and English.
    • Ability to take initiative and drive process improvements.

Contract type

 

Fixed-term period contract of 12-18 months.
