The opportunity
As a Lead Expert VMware Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and efficiency of our global virtualization and hybrid cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional and globally distributed teams to support VMware environments across on-premises and cloud platforms, while driving automation, standardization, and continuous improvement.
How you’ll spend your day
- Provide day-to-day operational support for global VMware infrastructure, including server installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline virtualization operations (e.g., using PowerCLI, Python, Ansible).
- Monitor and maintain hardware platforms including blade systems and hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive incident resolution.
- Produce regular operational and performance reports for management and stakeholders.
- Participate in global projects involving virtualization and cloud infrastructure, contributing to design, planning, implementation, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, particularly in pharmaceutical environments.
- Support tools like vRealize Operations (vROps), vCenter, NSX, and other VMware and cloud ecosystem components.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure 24/7 operational coverage and continuity.
Your experience and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in VMware platform design, engineering and operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and related virtualization technologies.
- Practical experience with hybrid cloud environments and VMware Cloud solutions (e.g., VMware on AWS, Azure VMware Solution).
- Experience with scripting and automation frameworks (e.g., PowerCLI, Python, Ansible).
- Familiarity with vRealize Operations (vROps) for monitoring and optimization (preferred).
- Knowledge of networking and security in virtualized and cloud environments (e.g., NSX, firewalls, load balancers).
- Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure platforms (e.g. Nutanix) is a strong plus.
- Exposure to ITIL processes and working in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
