The opportunity

The position is responsible for all sales activities and management of larger assigned accounts. Key objective of this role is to drive revenue/GP and to achieve the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) by executing the sales strategies within the assigned accounts, maximizing all opportunities, seeking out and capturing new prospective customers while growing existing relationships, and continuing to provide exceptional customer service.  The role will require the individual to utilize analytical thinking skills, employ consultative and transactional selling techniques, and working cross-functionally with internal departments for effective operations and performance management. 

How you’ll spend your day

•    Responsible for executing the Pharmacy Account Management team sales strategy within assigned accounts to ensure quarterly/annual revenue and GP goals are attained. 
•    Establishes, maintains and grows both new and existing relationships with larger Group Purchasing Organization customers and key stakeholders to deliver long-term successful partnerships.  
•    Negotiates sales terms with moderate discretion within policy guidelines.
•    Becomes the subject matter expert on assigned accounts by understanding the customers’ needs, strategies, and objectives and utilizes this expertise to develop unique, customized programs as some customers are high profile accounts spanning broad geographic areas, representing significant revenue and having diverse complex needs.  
•    Provides analytical support and analysis for account base to review sales performance and opportunities for customer growth and expansion.  
•    Identifies and understands the market landscape, the competition, and is forward thinking in creating new programs and opportunities to stay ahead of the industry changes.
•    Coordinates efforts internally by working cross-functionally with all departments to facilitate and to ensure we build strong working relationships to maximize account performance.
•    Works alongside customer support functions and provides regular updates on account opportunities and strategies so they can execute against the business plan  
•    Facilitates weekly, monthly, quarterly calls and business reviews with customers
•    Communicates with Director/TL KAMs and management team on the strategies and tactics being employed within assigned accounts by providing routine updates and reporting.
•    Travel to attend all relevant industry events, trade shows, customer meetings and conferences.

Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered. 

Education/Certification/Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree preferred; a combination of education and/or industry experience will be considered.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and or secondary wholesale industry
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, account management, and/or general management
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in and knowledge of various distributions and selling channels

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
•    A commercially minded account manager with institutional and medical group practice selling experience.   Understanding of pharmaceutical distribution in both the primary and secondary markets.  
•    Solid negotiation, collaboration and influencing skills, both internal and externally. Develops colleagues’ and customers’ understanding.
•    Solid strategic skillset with demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies based on competitive dynamics, economic goals and customer requirements/needs. 
•    Analytical with demonstrated ability to succeed in data-driven, process-oriented environment. 
•    Strong oral and written communication skills.  Ability to deliver effective presentations to C – suite level executive audiences with support from Director, TL, KAMs 
•    Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing industry environment and possess the ability to manage the complexity inherent in the pharmaceutical business. 
•    Problem solving and issue resolution capabilities.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 20% domestic travel throughout the US.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Occasional:
•    Sitting for extended periods of time at workstation or mobile equipment.

Visual Acuity:
•    Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading 

Compensation Data

The annual starting salary for this position is between $130,000 – $150,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
