The opportunity

We are seeking a Head of Operational Excellence (OpEx) within the EPIX group of GCO. This person is a strategic leader responsible for building and sustaining the operational engine of GCO across Teva’s Innovative and Generics portfolios. This role serves as the architect of GCOs execution framework, designing the operating models, standards, performance systems, and accountability mechanisms that ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of clinical trials worldwide. The Senior Director will lead the enterprise approach to cycle time reduction, operational rigor, and continuous improvement, transforming data and performance signals into action that improves outcomes, reduces cost and enhances efficiency.

 

The position partners closely with Senior R&D leadership, functional heads and global teams to embed a unified, disciplined, and scalable approach to planning and execution. The Head of Operational Excellence operates with broad visibility and influence shaping how GCO executes, decides, and performs. This is a critical leadership role for someone who leads through systems thinking, operational foresight and cross functional credibility and who is energized by creating lasting impact.

 

This role may be based in Parsippany, New Jersey or West Chester, Pennsylvania. The position is hybrid, requiring regular onsite presence (typical schedule: three days in office, two days remote). 

How you’ll spend your day

Build and Lead the OpEx Function

  1. Establish the OpEX vision, operating model, organizational structure and multi-year road map
  2. Build and mentor a high performing operational excellence team capable of driving enterprise transformation
  3. Partner with EPIX functional leads to embed operational discipline across the clinical lifecycle and GCO

 

Standardize Operating Models

  1. Assess current operating models, map E2E processes to gain efficiency and speed.
  2. Design harmonized, scalable processes and frameworks for planning, forecasting, feasibility, budgeting, execution, enrollment management and closeout.
  3. Develop governance structures that drive consistency and eliminate operational variability across functions and geographies
  4. Lead “way of working” harmonization across Innovative and Generics portfolios

 

Own Metrics and KPI Governance

  1. Define and maintain the metrics performance aligning KPI's to quality timelines, predictability, vendor performance, patient/site experience, and cost
  2. In collaboration with a partner organization, design dashboards and performance reviews that inform decisions at study/ functional/portfolio levels
  3. Collaborate with other functional areas to establish governance and steering committees
  4. Ensure metrics are actionable, driving accountability escalation and performance improvement

 

Lead Enterprise Level Operational Initiatives

  1. Champion continuous improvement across planning, execution, governance, and vendor management
  2. Drive adoption of new processes systems tools and behaviors through structured change management and training
  3. Shape operational decision-making frameworks that support portfolio level prioritization and resource allocation
  4. Drive process simplification and implement technology enhancements to optimize speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

 

Ensure Organizational Readiness and Scalability

  1. Define readiness criteria for key study milestones and ensure teams are equipped to meet them
  2. Build operating structures that support portfolio expansion new modalities and increasing trial complexity
  3. Align operational excellence strategies with technology, digital and AI/ML teams to maximize adoption and impact
  4. Oversee resource allocation and governance for GCO

Your experience and qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Advanced degree in a scientific, engineering, or supply chain discipline preferred

 

Experience:

Required:

  • 12+years in Clinical Operations, Operational Excellence, R&D Strategy, or related transformation roles
  • Proven success designing and implementing enterprise-level operating models, governance frameworks, and performance systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive measurable cycle-time, quality, and efficiency improvements.
  • Strong analytical capability with fluency in KPIs, metrics-driven decision- making, and operational dashboards.
  • Track record of influencing senior leaders and driving adoption in a complex, global matrix environment
  • Experience leading high performing teams and large-scale operational change
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to routinely travel domestically and abroad.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in both large/established pharma and smaller/mid-sized pharma where there is transformational or high growth environments.
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, digital enablement AI/ML applications and scenario modeling experience
  • Lean Six Sigma or advanced continuous improvement certification.

Compensation Data

The annual starting salary for this position is between $202,160– $265,335 annually.  Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
