Job Description

This Senior Director position in Teva’s Global Statistics and Programming organization is a senior therapeutic area (TA) statistical and strategic leadership position.  The individual in this strategic role will lead a TA Statistics group comprised of ~8-10 statisticians globally.  The Statistics TA Head is accountable for both strategic and technical aspects of all TA drug development projects from first in human (FIH) through proof of concept (POC) to loss of exclusivity (LOE).   Reporting directly to the Global Head of the Statistics & Programming organization, the Statistics TA Head is a dynamic role within Teva's Specialty R&D (innovative products) organization.  This role requires regular contact with persons of influence in the TA and in positions of TA decision-making both within Teva and within partner organizations globally.  This individual will be responsible for creating a positive, kind, empathetic and innovative culture that fosters a space for people to do amazing things.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create a culture within their TA Statistics team consistent with the Mission and Values of Teva.
  • Create and lead a world-class TA statistics organization with responsibilities that span drug-development team activities from FIH through POC to LOE.
  • Promote teamwork and contribute to positivity in the Statistics organization.
  • Demonstrate and promote critical statistical thinking, with a particular focus on delivery to ensure developing and sustaining the value of medicines and healthcare solutions for their TA.
  • Promote great science, innovation, efficient study design and quantitative decision making in partnership with other lines within the TA clinical development function.
  • Promote working with the clinicians, clinical pharmacologists and medical directors in the TA as a mechanism to drive quantitative approaches throughout clinical development and commercial support.
  • Encourage business-aligned publication of innovative science and statistical application.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a network of world-leading external statistical advisors and consultants.
  • Contribute and/or lead creation of technical capabilities (including but not limited to Bayesian tools, machine learning, quantitative decision-making and real-world evidence-generation), SOPs, processes and templates that promote good clinical practice, cutting-edge statistical methods, and best-in-class performance metrics on statistical deliverables.
  • In partnership with the TA clinical leadership, seek opportunities to engage with and influence regulators globally, representing Statistics in regulatory interactions and product defense.
  • In partnership with the TA Medical Affairs, seek opportunities to engage with payers and external experts to provide evidence of the safety and efficacy of our product.
  • Recruit and retain a diverse, highly skilled, motivated workforce across all areas supported; build a culture of engagement where colleagues understand how what they do contributes to patients and the company.
  • Contribute to the creation of a global culture within the Statistics discipline that shares best practices across all therapy and disease areas and phases of development, promotes statistics talent development / management, recommends and articulates appropriate investments in technology to maximize the value to the business. 





  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics or related field of study 
  • 10+ years relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a demonstrated understanding of statistical methodology applied across all phases of drug development
  • Ability to program using SAS and R
  • Ability to design and implement innovative study designs and related analyses methods

Functional Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality products with efficiency as well as having relevant technical and scientific publications is preferred.
  • Ability to influence others in the organization and drive organizational change within and outside of their organization
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including technical writing. 
  • Experience leading a team of Statisticians
  • Ability to communicate with non-statisticians to interpret statistical findings and articulate statistical concepts
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated project and technical leadership qualities, and creative and strategic thinking required.
