Job Description

 

The Senior Scientist will be accountable for delivering robust cell culture processes for novel and biosimilar molecules. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary project team, execute projects aligned to meet the goals of the business unit and be accountable for refining and delivering platform solutions to advance Teva’s pipeline biopharmaceutical products.

 

In addition you will lead technology development programs to improve productivity, product quality and efficiency of cell culture processes (e.g., perfusion, connected/continuous processing etc.).

 

Other Duties:

  • Refine high-throughput process development technologies coupled with high-throughput analytics
  • Lead a group of associates and scientists working on mammalian cell culture process development 
  • Design and perform scale-up of cell culture processes for clinical and commercial scale manufacturing
  • Lead or support technology transfers to commercial manufacturing sites as needed
  • Contribute towards product commercialization efforts by participating in cross-functional project commercialization team.
  • Participate by providing technical leadership for internal and external collaborations 
  • Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing issues as an upstream Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Author technical reports for documentation of development and tech transfer activities
  • Draft regulatory documents for IND/BLA filings as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical/biochemical engineering, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field with 15 years of experience in biopharmaceutical/biotech industry. OR Masters degree with 10 years of experience. OR PhD with 5 years of experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of mammalian expression systems with an understanding of cell harvesting step


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of product quality relationship to cell culture and purification processes
  • Understanding  of the literature, patent landscape and regulatory guidelines
  • Proficiency cell culture data analysis using statistical and multivariate analysis tools and models
  • Familiarity with the cGMP principles and how these apply to process development of licensed biological products
  • Experience of authoring technical documentation and regulatory filing document
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
