Job Description

This position requires the knowledge, experience, and skills to support cell-based assay development, ELISA development and sample testing of biologics within the Analytical Sciences, Bioassays and Biosciences Group.  Specific areas of focus are: method development, method qualification, SOP and work instruction authorship and review, in-process and development support, sample testing. Strong knowledge and background with a variety of biological in-vitro systems is required (cell migration, proliferation, cell signaling, differentiation, transporters). Experience with cell transfection, including difficult to transfect cell lines, flow cytometry, antibody effector function assessment and western blot is desirable.

 

The ability to solve problems and manage multiple activities is a must.  Other areas of support will be needed for conducting lab investigations in area of expertise, regulatory filing support, and the ability to oversee external work occurring at CRO. Work will include assay design, troubleshooting, data evaluation, project planning and timelines and coordinating studies with other technical groups.  Presentation of experimental outcomes to coworkers or management is expected. The position will promote a culture of quality, compliance and continuous improvement.

Complete understanding and wide application of scientific/technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. Has acquired some knowledge of key principles in other related disciplines -- Provides scientific/technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives -- Works under broad direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives -- Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience -- Frequent internal and external contacts in providing solutions to complex scientific/technical issues associated with specific projects

Qualifications

  • Design and establish cell-based methods to support lot release testing and process development sample testing. This work may require the ability to identify/ create appropriate functional cell line.
  • Support Sample testing
  • Mentor and train  junior staff
  • Support product method qualification and method transfers as applicable.
  • Identify, write, revise, manage and implement standard operating procedures, work instructions, standard practices, protocols and reports.
  • Drafts sections of INDs and BLAs as applicable.
  • Develop strategy and approach for special studies as applicable.
  • Support QC lab investigations and troubleshooting. 
  • Lead and/or participate method validation/transfer for the developed assays to QC or third parties
  • Evaluate new and emerging analytical technologies
