Job Description

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. has an opening for the position of Associate Scientist II (Ref# AS1115MP).


Work Location:  145 Brandywine Parkway, West Chester, PA 19380.


Job Duties:  Perform testing to support process and formulation development.  Qualify analytical methods and generate summary reports.  Participate in analytical method development and support product characterization.  Provide technical support for assay transfer and validation to CMOs.  Write SOPs (standard operating procedures), GMP (good manufacturing practices) compliance, and technical report generation.  Maintain and track lab supply and column usage as appropriate.  Maintain instrument calibration.  Document experiment and testing in relevant forms or notebook properly.  Support sample management to ensure fluent interaction within different departments in order to present reliable data analysis as well as final results.  Conduct assay development as a core competency for biologics development, due to the complexity of large proteins.  Understand the characteristics of biologics, formulation, and hands-on experience with the following types of separations: impurities quantitation by variety of immunoassays (ELISA), real time PCR assays, bacterial endotoxins determination by kinetic-turbidimetric method, protein characterization by BIAcore SPR instruments, SDS-Page, various ELISA methods, and other analytical assays.  Conduct data analysis and graph the results using major software programs.  Responsible for quantitation of CHO residual host cell proteins and r-Protein A impurities in samples by variety of ELISA assays.  Involved in impurities testing automatization by adapting KingFisher ProteinSEQ system.  Assist with sample management to ensure fluent interaction within different departments to present reliable data analysis and results.  Contribute to regulatory filing (IND and BLA) and respond to regulatory agencies’ questions.


Requirements:  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.  Plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years in a related occupation including Biotechnologist Researcher or related biopharmaceutical/biotechnology experience.  Will accept a Master’s degree plus 1 year of experience in lieu of the required education and experience.  Position requires 1 year of experience with ELISA assays, BIAcore SPR instruments, bacterial endotoxin determination using kinetic-turbidimetric method, and preparing SOPs.  Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein.  40hrs/week.
