Job Description

The Associate Director, Site Head Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will champion a sustainable EHS culture to ensure Safety and Health and protect the Environment, in order to enable compliant operations and business effectiveness. 


The candidate will have demonstrated team leadership skills and experience working in a multi-disciplinary, highly matrixed environment, with evidence of delivering results in this setting.   They must have adequate knowledge in EHS disciplines (such as- waste, water, air emissions, audit and inspection, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, ergonomics, lab safety, process safety, and EHs management systems) and be able to ensure compliance with government regulations and industry standards.  The candidate must have a basic knowledge of OPEX principles and cGMP requirements for products, process, and systems.    



  • Lead EHS regulatory compliance- Provide guidance to site managers and employees, conduct internal and support external audits, to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.  Design corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Assess and mitigate risks- Identify EHS risks and define proactive mitigations.  Ensure that site investment and changes in processes, equipment and systems are carried out in accordance with the concepts of EHS by design and relevant EHS requirements and cGMP.
  • Design and implement annual EHS plan- In collaboration with the site leadership team; create, implement, monitor and update the site EHS plan. 
  • Monitor, analyze and share EHS information- Provide necessary information and data to site managers and supervisors, Global EHs and other internal and external stakeholders, in order to support the achievement of EHS objectives and enhance Teva’s reputation.
  • Promote a sustainable EHS culture- Create and maintain an EHS culture throughout the site that inspires a proactive attitude and a firm belief that ‘target zero’ is achievable.  Create a space where people and speak openly and are encouraged to present new ideas and EHS stewardship.
  • Provide Expertise, guidance, coaching, and training- Develop and implement training programs, provide coaching, expertise and guidance to managers and employees of the site.
  • Lead continuous EHS improvement- Lead continuous improvement in EHS using Operational Excellence principles and visible-felt leadership to achieve ‘target zero’ goals and to enable compliant operations and business effectiveness. 
  • Lead the site EHS Team- Identify, recruit, develop and retain qualified professionals to provide EHS services to the site.  Implement managerial practices to ensure the EHS team’s high performance, modeling Teva’s values and leadership framework.
  • Site leadership team member- Serve as an influential member of the site leadership team, who impacts decision making and takes an active role in prompting cross-site initiatives, team work and collaboration across site functions. 
  • Member of the global network & professional community- Bring global best practices into the site and actively share site perspective, knowledge and lessons learned to contribute and support best-in-class professional level of EHS globally.
  • Manage relations with regulatory agencies, the local community, and external suppliers- Develop trusted and proactive relationships with regulatory agencies, local community and external suppliers to promote compliance and social responsibility, in Teva’s business interest.  



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Engineering or related science based degree preferred
  • Degree in safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, environment preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional certifications where legally required


Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of adequate EHS experience
  • Adequate practical experience with site EHS programs or have implemented or ran other programs in a highly regulated environment
  • Advanced technological knowledge in process safety or chemical engineering
  • Adequate knowledge of hazard communication and right to know regulations (REACH, GHS, OSHA, WHIMS, etc).
  • Basic experience with management systems:  ISO9001, ISO14001, OSHAS18001



  • Technical knowledge and best practices in EHS
  • Basic knowledge of local current and upcoming legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment and influence stakeholders is required
  • Basic knowledge of OPEX principles and cGMP requirements for products, process, and systems
  • Basic project management knowledge and experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to make difficult decisions in a timely fashion along with excellent follow through and organizational skills to assure team and organizational alignment to these decisions
  • Demonstrated capability to efficiently managing multiple concurrent programs
  • Well-organized with ability to effectively prioritize
