Job Description
The Associate Director, Discovery will lead and support various R&D projects on a worldwide basis to assist in the development and implementation of strategy, concepts and solutions. The position will act on behalf of R&D Procurement.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of Discovery Group objectives by leading the development and implementation of various contracts and MSAs
- Developing and providing category knowledge, including knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, the supplier base, and global market (prices and practices).
- Monitoring and exploring external trends and factors that impact category strategy, security of supply, costs, etc. via regular interaction with the Global Category Manager, the category team, and the R&D Teams.
- Supporting the global implementation plans of the global category strategy and achievement of targets that are aligned with Global Procurement and the Business needs,
- Communicating the agreed strategy and implementation plan to internal customers and responding to questions as needed.
- Providing input to the GCM, Discovery from both a global and regional perspective in order to contribute to the broader understanding of sub-category, regional, and country-level differences.
- Developing tools and templates (in collaboration with other category team members) to streamline processes for global and regional customers.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required – Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other science related major is desirable; advanced degree and/or certification preferred.
- At least 6+ years of direct procurement/sourcing or laboratory experience
- At least 3+ years of procurement support for Pharma/R&D environment preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Project Management
- Experience with sourcing processes and tools.
- Ability to draft and manage the RFP process, perform spend analytics, and develop recommendations
