Job Description

Full time, Toronto (Day)

Lead all activities to analyze, evaluate, execute trial and validation batches for packaging projects. Coordinate with Packaging to propose design of materials and processes for packaging of pharmaceutical products.  Initiation and approval of all change controls for Master Packaging orders and approval of artwork for printed packaging components.

  • Evaluate packaging processes and suggest improvements to increase efficiency of the line by designing improved and optimized components while maintaining quality/integrity of the finished products Run line trials for process improvements.  Write protocols and reports.
  • Coordinate validation activities with all departments and plant locations.
  • Write protocol, execute validation activities and write report summarizing validation activities and findings.
  • Provide technical knowledge for the development, procurement and troubleshooting of packaging materials and components to support site packaging operations.
  • Initiate change controls for supplier changes.  Run line trials for new components as required (eg new launches, new equipment and process improvement initiatives). Summarize all findings and initiate change controls as required for master packaging orders.
  • Initiate, red-line and approve all change controls for Master Packaging Orders.
  • Perform activities/tasks as assigned in Trackwise Harmony.
  • Maintain the validation database for validation matrix requirements.
  • Evaluate each change control for potential validation requirements.  Update the database as required.
  • Approval of artwork for printed packaging components.
  • Provide required templates/guidelines to Graphics department as required.  Review artwork and approve all printed packaging components for correct technical requirements.
  • Complete DRs and CAPAs in Trackwise Harmony.
  • Conduct investigation into the issue and provide corrective action moving forward.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Science or Engineering discipline is required.
  • Certification through PAC (Packaging Association of Canada) CPP certification through IOPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals) an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in packaging related environment preferably in pharmaceutical environment.
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PS Project, Oracle, and  Trackwise Harmony knowledge helpful.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SOPs, GMPs and Health and Safety Procedures. Knowledge of packaging components and packaging equipment.
  • Good knowledge of packaging processes and equipment in pharmaceutical industry.  cGMP requirements for packaging environment (components and equipment).
