The opportunity

The Chief of Staff, Global Finance will be a critical leadership role responsible for proactively enabling the Finance strategy, enhancing alignment and execution, and driving operational excellence. 

The role requires a strategic mindset, as well as an ability to manage complex details and drive actions across all areas within the Finance organization. The ideal incumbent is a highly motivated and organized individual with exceptional communication skills and judgment. You will be a trusted advisor, confidante, and problem-solver, bringing your expertise and resourcefulness to every challenge. You will be participating in the development of tactical and strategic plans to meet the team’s goals,  ensuring that team projects and initiatives are on an effective trajectory to achieve those goals, while collaborating with Finance leadership team (FLT) and supporting addressing issues and obstacles that could impair the team's effectiveness. 

•    Responsible for leading the planning, coordination, prioritization, and execution of transformational activities across the FLT
•    Provides program management, strategic and operational improvements and efficiencies across multiple workstreams and is diligent with planning and organization, has analytical rigor, an obsessive focus on outcomes, and an empathetic yet direct interpersonal style
•    Develops and manages a process for measuring and reporting progress on high-priority initiatives and programs across the Leadership Team
•    Creates process, coordinates, and tracks cross functional planning for FLT
•    Collaborates with the Finance Leadership Team to lead a consistent framework for FLT meetings, understands the connection points, masters timelines, and drives operational excellence

The Chief of Staff, Global Finance will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer and will be a member on the Global Finance leadership team. 

How you’ll spend your day

As a member of the Global Finance Leadership Team, work closely with the CFO and other members of the team to assist in setting strategic direction for the organization and ensure alignment with strategic objectives across functions, regions, and business units.
•    Collaborate with the CFO to define and implement a comprehensive transformation plan for the Finance organization.
•    Identify key areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance innovation and efficiency.
•    Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and operational execution across all functions.
•    Drive initiatives and focused projects that optimize processes in alignment with FLT with respect to the Finance Transformation and Pivot to Growth strategy.
•    Foster strong business partnerships with segments and enabling functions.
•    Keep the CFO and other stakeholders informed on key accomplishments, issues, and next steps.
•    Lead and/or manage special projects and high-profile initiatives, as appropriate.
•    Act as a liaison between the CFO and other company senior executives to ensure alignment and coordination on a wide variety of cross-functional matters.
•    In partnership with Communications, support the CFO and leadership team in defining and developing high impact executive communications, including presentations for Executive Members and Board meetings, as well as Town Hall meetings and other internal and external audiences. 
•    In partnership with the CFOs Executive Assistant coordinate respective activities and calendars, trips to ensure time is appropriately planned and effectively spent and appropriate access is given.
•    Anticipate, identify, and facilitate resolution of issues between finance verticals and across functional lines and the Global Finance leadership team.
•    Monitor the team’s performance and cultural dynamics and intervene, where needed, to keep the focus where it needs to be and to ensure appropriate follow up or adjustment to strategies, performance, and/or plans.

Your experience and qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
•    Minimum of 10 years of Biotech / Pharma experience/Manufacturing Industries 
•    Breadth of experience across multiple Finance functions in a large complex and matrixed organizations
