The opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Finance Lead, to join our team at Teva. This role is pivotal in leading the financial planning and forecast processes for the Australian business, providing critical commercial insights and reporting to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively across various functions.
How you’ll spend your day
Business Planning
• Long Range Planning: Plan and coordinate the long-range planning process for the Australian business, ensuring alignment with strategy and input from all stakeholders.
• Annual Operating Plan: Lead the annual operating plan process, ensuring accurate capture and projection of sales, margin, headcount, and operating expenses.
Financial Forecasting
• Quarterly Forecasts: Partner with commercial and function leads to prepare quarterly rolling forecasts and outlooks, projecting the financial outlook for the year.
• Risk Management: Identify, validate, and document risks and opportunities related to financial objectives.
Sales Reporting and Revenue Recognition
• Sales Reporting: Ensure accurate sales reporting in SAP and BI tools.
• Rebate/Discount Accounting: Validate and ensure accurate accounting for rebates and discounts.
• Revenue Recognition: Comply with revenue recognition requirements and coordinate with the supply chain for accurate sales reporting.
• Monthly Flash Sales Report: Prepare and submit the monthly flash sales report to local leadership, APAC finance, and International Markets teams.
Expense Management and Cost Control
• Expense Monitoring: Provide function leads and cost centre managers with expense reports to monitor performance against plans and forecasts.
Monthly Reporting
• P&L Review: Review the monthly P&L before final submission to global teams.
• Variance Analysis: Prepare monthly sales, gross margin, and expense reports, including analysis of key variances to plan and forecast.
Business Cases and Pricing
• New Initiatives: Work with stakeholders to prepare and validate business cases for new launches and initiatives.
• Pricing Insights: Provide insights into product pricing and profitability.
Sarbanes-Oxley and Control Environment
• Compliance: Ensure accounting records comply with internal corporate policies, local statutory, and taxation requirements.
People Leadership
• Team Management: Manage the rebates and pricing administrator, ensuring timely processing and accurate reflection of product pricing and trading terms in SAP.
• Objectives Alignment: Agree on annual objectives with the Finance Director, ANZ, and ensure team objectives are aligned.
• Development: Conduct regular meetings with direct reports, focusing on growth and development.
Financial Systems
• System Optimization: Work with local and global colleagues to ensure systems (SAP, Hyperion, Integrated Business Planning) meet local business and financial reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Management and Engagement
• Engagement: Proactively engage with stakeholders across the local and global business, including the Finance Director, ANZ; APAC Business Finance Lead; Finance Director, APAC; Commercial Core Leadership Team; Global Business Solutions; Function Leads; Brand Managers; and Cost Centre Managers.
Other Responsibilities
• Rebate Provision Monitoring: Ensure the rebate provision is accurate and meets future liabilities.
• Cash Flow Forecasts: Prepare cash flow forecasts as part of the quarterly forecasting and annual operating plan cycles.
Your experience and qualifications
• CA/CPA qualification with a degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred)
• Leadership and management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills,
• A proactive and resilient approach, comfortable navigating manual systems and driving change.
• Experience in a multi-national corporate environment, particularly in pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or a product-related sector.
• Understanding of IFRS and USGAAP accounting principles.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
