The Position

We have an opportunity for an Associate Director to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President, Antibody Discovery, and utilising your background in protein science and leadership, you will play an integral role in conducting research and development (planning, execution and interpretation) on therapeutic antibody discovery projects, by leading a core facility for protein design, production and characterization, supporting multiple programs.

This role is partly lab-based and involves a high level of technical experience in protein science (highly desirable that this covers antibodies), including:

  • Protein structure / function analysis (modelling and other in silico analyses)
  • Protein design and expression, especially in mammalian cell lines (experience with E. coli and insect expression also desirable)
  • Protein purification: native & tagged
  • Protein analysis and analytical method development including, capillary electrophoresis, chromatography (HIC, CIC, IEX, RPC) and mass spectrometry
  • Protein stability studies (predictive & real-time)
  • Effectively managing:
    • Selection, purchase & maintenance of equipment and associated training
    • External service providers for some of the abovementioned activities

You will lead other scientists and foster collaboration with other teams - strong communication and presentation skills are critical attributes.

The Applicant

You should hold a PhD or equivalent with extensive protein science experience and demonstrated experience leading other scientists, managing infrastructure and collaborating productively.
