Job Description

An MES Engineer II will be primarily responsible for the conversion of Master Batch Records (MBRs) into electronic format. MES Engineer II will also be the internal point for all MES-related activities at Teva’s Salt Lake City Manufacturing Facility including: requirements planning, testing / validation, change control, process improvement, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

•    Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
•    Performs conversion of Master Batch Record (MBR) documents to the Electronic Batch Record format for use in the Manufacturing Execution System.  
•    Performs validation of Electronic Batch Records and configuration of the Manufacturing Execution system.
•    Performs general maintenance of master data within the Manufacturing Execution System. 
•    Oversee the installation and performs qualification of shop-floor hardware to support MES and other data collection systems (SCADA).
•    Preparation and execution of commissioning, installation and operational qualification, and validation protocols for computer systems.
•    Performs periodic reviews of computer systems and system qualifications, prepares summary reports, and assigns CAPAs to address deficiencies.  Includes reviews of change controls, deviations, work orders, IQ/OQ, URS, drawings, and FS/DS as applicable.
•    Will implement safe work practices and process controls to ensure a safe operation of equipment and facility. May include job hazard analysis, failure fault trees, and risk assessments to drive a preventable injury work place and continuously safe process.
•    Will develop technical knowledge on qualified computer systems and environments to be able to solve a range of problems and analyze possible solutions using root cause problem solving and a risk based approach.
•    Collaborate with other functional areas of the organization: Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to accomplish project objectives.
•    Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in a related field (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar), and two to six years of experience using MES systems, preferably in a pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
