Job Description

This position has overall responsibility for the leadership, development, execution, and maintenance of Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement for the Teva Salt Lake City campus.


All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by any incumbents with reasonable accommodation if necessary. Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in other related duties or assignments.

  • Identify, prioritize, lead, and execute improvement projects across all functions of the business.
  • Build Operational Excellence capabilities across the Salt Lake City Campus.
  • Oversight and ownership of Gross Margin Enhancement activities across the Salt Lake City Campus.
  • Engagement cross-functionally at all levels to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ownership of site metrics to identify opportunities to drive improvement.
  • Ensure the adoption of fundamental OpEx principles across the Salt Lake City Campus such as 5S, Gemba, visual factory, standard work, etc.
  • Training campus personnel on Operational Excellence principles.
  • Management and development of direct reports and indirect (if applicable) reports.
  • Responsible for completing all training requirements and maintaining 100% compliance with all assignments.  
  • Responsible for maintaining work areas and performing job functions in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Batch Record instructions.
  • Responsible for performing additional related duties as assigned.


Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a scientific or engineering discipline, or equivalent education/experience with a minimum of 10 years relevant progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a change agent/leader in a lean environment, preferably pharmaceutical production.
  • Requires experience in and working knowledge of a variety of functions such as manufacturing, quality, validation and supply chain.
  • Experience with and an in-depth knowledge of cGMP and other applicable industry regulatory requirements as they relate to the production of pharmaceutical products and associated quality systems
  • Prefer Operational Excellence experience in a regulated industry such as pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or food processing industries.
  • Prefer lean certification. 


  • Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Self-directed with ability to organize and prioritize work and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and lead others with and/or without direct supervisory authority.
  • Ability to positively manage conflict, provide difficult feedback and negotiate resolution.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships between teams, departments and business units.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring and encouragement to help others improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills.
