At Teva Runcorn, we develop, manufacture and market innovative and affordable medicines, specialising in sterile liquid products mainly used for treating respiratory conditions using Blow-Fill-Seal technology as well as injectable Combination Products.

A Day In The Life Of A OPEX Specialist

The Opex Specialist position is responsible for maintaining adherence to the Lean Management System (LMS) standards for continuous improvement (CI). Primary responsibilities include identification, prioritization, management and execution of CI opportunities to improve the overall operational effectiveness of the Pillar, reduce sources of loss, and meet improvement targets. Analyze data to drive root cause analyses and to prioritize improvements.

​Support the creation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 CI goals in alignment with Site priorities and Site Goals. The CI Specialist may lead or coach Pillar members on structured problem-solving techniques of moderate complexity.

This role is a key enabler to the successful sustainability of LMS within the site.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sustaining one or more work area (Tier 1) CI Loop

  • Lead Operational Excellence initiatives (i.e., 5S, M1 investigations, etc.), and promote a culture of continuous improvement with their team

  • Explore and assist in the deployment of cost-reduction ideas, particularly focused on improving line efficiency and increasing asset capacity through various initiatives

  • Input and analyze data from LMS pillars and other work centers to identify largest sources of loss and areas for improvement, including collaboration with CI Specialists across ecosystems

  • Collaborate with other team members on identifying and implement CI opportunities. Utilize data to influence project prioritization

  • Assist in the investigation of deviations on the manufacturing floor. Perform root cause analysis and help to identify effective CAPAs

  • With support from the Pillar Lead: facilitate the CI Loop meetings, including project prioritization and escalation. Attend Tier meetings and facilitate real-time structured problem solving

  • Receive and provide Gemba on the CI Loop pillar

  • Work with Pillar Lead and LMS colleagues to build, maintain and improve LMS within the work area

  • Partner with shop floor colleagues, leadership and enablers to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are identified and completed in a timely manner

Who We Are Looking For

Do you have?

  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 6 years of relevant experience or an associates degree with 4 years of experience
  • Lean Tool experience or Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Experience with MS Excel and be able to input data and generate charts for analysis
  • Foundational financial skills and business acumen
  • Experienced in using root cause analysis methods
  • Relevant industry experience would be desirable
  • Knowledge of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and manufacturing procedures and standards would also be preferred but not essential
