Job Description

The Tax Analyst position will report to the Director of Tax Research, Planning, and Controversy and will support federal and state tax audits, tax planning, and all areas of tax research. This role will focus on supporting all aspects of the federal and state tax audits.  This includes managing relationships and communications with auditors, interacting with various members of the organization to gather information and prepare written and quantitative submissions to auditors in response to information requests, conducting research and drafting memoranda on technical tax issues in support of positions taken on tax returns under audit, preparing written protest and appeals submissions, and any other action necessary to support and defend the positions taken by the company on tax returns.  While the majority of this role will focus on supporting tax audits, there will be opportunities for the candidate to assist with tax planning opportunities, which includes identifying opportunities for tax savings, performing tax technical research, drafting supporting memorandum and power point presentations, and performing quantitative analyses.  


This role is ideal for a candidate who is currently in the tax operations function and wants to start to learn about strategic tax research and planning.  The ideal candidate should have experience preparing tax returns and / or tax provisions, but wants to experience the more technical aspects of tax with the opportunity to learn tax planning.   



  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Teva’s domestic tax and business operations. 
  • Support the Director in formulating audit strategies at the Federal and State levels, research and draft responses to inquiries from revenue authorities and assist in the management of audits.
  • Prepare written protests and appeals in response to proposed tax assessments.
  • Work with Tax Operations and other parts of the tax function to ensure that tax positions, initiatives and structures are correctly disclosed and/or reported for tax provision purposes and on timely filed returns.
  • Identify tax related risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor case law, tax legislation and regulations at the Federal and State levels; advise on and document the potential impact of these developments on the Company.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned. 


An important aspect of the incumbent’s role will be the pursuit of continuous improvement, reviewing, recommending and implementing process improvements for work flow, data management and tax software solutions within a strong control environment.  


Education and Experience:

  • BS / BA in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of tax experience 
  • Tax compliance experience required 
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of SAP experience and One source preferred.
  • Combined Big-4 and/or large corporate experience preferred

  • Solid tax accounting knowledge.
  • Solid organization, project skills and initiative.
  • A desire to learn and grow professionally.
