We are seeking a strategic and highly experienced Pharmaceutical Contracts Leader to drive the development, negotiation, and execution of complex agreements across our U.S. Generics business. This role sits at the intersection of Commercial, Finance, and Legal, translating market strategy into structured, compliant, and financially optimized contract frameworks.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in generic pharmaceutical contracting, including wholesaler, retail, and government channels, and a strong understanding of pricing models, distribution dynamics, and revenue impact (e.g., chargebacks, rebates, and returns). This individual will operate as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights that shape contracting strategy, optimize market access, and mitigate financial and compliance risk.
This is a high-visibility role offering the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide decision-making, drive process excellence, and enhance contracting capabilities through both strategic leadership and operational execution.
The position is hybrid, requiring regular onsite presence in Parsippany, NJ (typical schedule: three days in office, two days remote).
How You’ll Spend Your Day
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contract Development & Negotiation
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex purchase, distribution, and sales agreements across commercial, government, specialty pharmacy (SP), GPO, and IDN channels
- Structure contract terms that align with pricing strategy, market dynamics, and evolving competitive insights within the U.S. generics landscape
- Partner closely with Legal to ensure agreements are compliant, enforceable, and aligned with organizational risk tolerance
Strategic Business Partnership
- Translate commercial strategy into actionable contract frameworks that support growth, market access, and profitability
- Provide strategic guidance to Commercial Leadership by incorporating market insight, channel dynamics, and financial implications into contract design and decision-making
- Build alignment and drive consensus across a highly matrixed organization, balancing competing priorities among stakeholders
Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
- Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Revenue Optimization, Contract Compliance, and Sales teams to ensure contract terms reflect both business intent and operational feasibility
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert (SME), effectively communicating and presenting complex contractual and financial concepts to internal stakeholders and external customers
Contract Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, approvals, execution, and implementation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Ensure seamless communication and interpretation of contract terms across all stakeholders to support effective execution
Financial & Operational Alignment
- Draft and validate contract structures to support accurate administration of chargebacks, rebates, returns, and pricing adjustments, minimizing revenue leakage
- Partner with Finance and Compliance to ensure contracts are audit-ready and aligned with financial controls
Process Optimization & Systems Utilization
- Drive continuous improvement in contracting processes, templates, and governance to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Leverage and optimize use of contracting and revenue management platforms (e.g., Model N, SAP, or similar systems) to support contract administration and analytics
Government & Medicaid Contracting
- Manage and support state supplemental Medicaid agreements and other government-related contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
Leadership & Development (as applicable)
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering strong analytical, strategic, and communication capabilities
- Provide performance management, coaching, and development planning where applicable
Execution Excellence & Prioritization
- Manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing business needs
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to all internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards
- Support internal and external audits, maintaining a high standard of documentation and process integrity
Your Skills and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field required
- MBA, JD, or advanced degree (Business, Pharmacy, or related discipline) a plus
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical contracting experience
- A minimum of 2 years focus on or knowledge in U.S. generics preferred
- Experience drafting and negotiating wholesaler and retail agreements preferred
- Deep understanding of pricing structures, chargebacks, rebates, and distribution channels
- Experience in medium-to-large, matrixed organizations
- Prior experience leading initiatives, driving collaboration

TECHNICAL & PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Model N, SAP, or similar contracting and revenue management platforms
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Approximately 10% domestic travel within the U.S.

Salary Range
The annual starting salary for this position is between $126,000– $157,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
