The Senior Director, Global Alliance and Integration Management will play a pivotal role in effectively managing strategic alliances, partnerships, acquisitions and divestments with selected external partners to drive business growth and long term value for Teva. The role requires a dynamic individual with exceptional communication, negotiation and strategic planning skills that result in the expansion of current partnerships and identification of new opportunities for the Business Development team.. The Senior Director is the primary liaison with external parties and is responsible for facilitating internal alignment among Teva stakeholders to ensure productive, consistent and collaborative interactions with the partner. The individual must possess financial and legal acumen to fully understand and implement key contractual business terms. The incumbent must have a strong understanding of drug development, manufacturing, supply chain and commercialization activities to facilitate Teva and the partner collaborating to deliver value to both parties.
This position provides oversight for joint governance committees, manages fulfillment of contractual obligations to and from the partner and is responsible in collaboration with Business Development and Legal for renegotiations or additional agreements with the partner as required.
This is an in-office position based in either of Teva’s North America locations in Parsippany, New Jersey or West Chester, Pennsylvania.
How You’ll Spend Your Day
• Develop collaborative relationships with selected high value/complex partners to further Teva’s objective of becoming a partner of choice in the industry.
• Function as the key point of contact to the partner and internal colleagues.
• Understand the partner’s business, their disease areas, markets, intrinsic financials and business challenges.
• Continuously monitor the health and the effectiveness of the partnership and be able to adjust and adapt accordingly.
• Deeply understand and effectively manage the contractual obligations both to and from the partner and ensure adherence to defined responsibilities thereby avoiding negative impact and/or liability for non-compliance of the agreement.
• Organize and lead governance processes/meetings with the partners (e.g. Joint Steering Committees). Develop agendas and facilitate meetings, ensure stakeholder input into agendas prior to meetings, ensure timely distribution of minutes and completion of action items. Facilitate agreements and compromises with the partner to maintain value. Orchestrate internal preparatory discussions to ensure internal alignment.
• Develop, implement and refine processes for deal-closure requirements in Teva’s acquisition and divestment activities.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to prepare for meetings, interactions and decisions with partners. This includes appropriate management of behaviors and expectations of our internal team members to ensure a positive approach to the partnership.
• Understand project/partnership details to manage day-to-day issues arising from the collaboration.
• Work with internal colleagues to reach decisions and to ensure communication with the partner is effective, transparent and consistent to avoid unnecessary surprises.
• Monitor, anticipate and manage issues to ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate with Corporate Communications, IR and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate consistent public disclosures between Teva and partner.
• Communicate alliance challenges, issues, and status to Teva senior management in a regular and timely manner; propose solutions and support the resolution of such issues.
• Support the smooth project transition from execution of the deal to on-going partnership and post agreement obligations.
• Build and maintain Alliance Management systems and processes as needed, and in collaboration with other functions e.g. Legal as appropriate to track and manage partnerships as one source of truth for regular reporting to senior stakeholders.
Your Skills and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
• Bachelors Degree in a science or healthcare discipline.
• PhD, MS, MBA, or other advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of 12 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry with extensive knowledge of drug development, manufacturing, distribution and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical products, complex generics and/or biosimilars.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of complex and strategic external partnerships
• Experience managing partnerships related to development, commercialization and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
• Experience working in or with multiple functional areas within a pharmaceutical organization.
• Ability to navigate and be successful in a global, fast-paced, matrix work environment to coordinate and build consensus among multiple parties / functions / groups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly formulate and articulate decisions and actions.
• Ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders with strong executive presence.
• Expert interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage across corporate hierarchy and functional areas.
• Well developed emotional intelligence (EQ) and situational awareness (SQ)
• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively manage multiple concurrent cross-functional teams.
Salary Range
The annual starting salary for this position is between $203,000 – $255,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
