Our Team, Your Impact

The Sr. Director, Associate General Counsel, Transactions role reports directly to the VP, General Counsel, Transactions.  This position will advise primarily global Business Development (BD) and global Alliance Management (AM) functions pertaining to Teva’s partnered innovative products and pipeline assets, as well as support corporate-wide M&A and divestiture activities.  Day-to-day responsibilities will include advising BD and AM professionals on contractual rights and obligations, including exclusivity obligations, restrictive covenants, license scope, dispute resolution provisions and other remedies. 

 

Capability to draft and negotiate biopharmaceutical licenses, development collaborations, supply agreements, and asset sales and purchases is essential.  In addition, you will be required to manage and monitor external spend and coordinate internal review and comment across Teva’s internal functions in a prompt and coordinated manner, and also with an eye toward compliance with applicable competition laws.   Success in this position will require a keen understanding of the intersections between each of BD and AM and their interdependent functions, including R&D, intellectual property, supply chain, finance, and regulatory affairs.

 

Location: The selected candidate will ideally work a hybrid schedule (3 days/week onsite) in either our Parsippany, NJ or West Chester, PA office. However, we may consider remote flexible arrangements where it’s deemed necessary due to a candidate’s location.  If remote, occasional travel into one of our offices will be required on an as-needed basis.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

 

  • Draft, negotiate and review contracts, including license agreements, product development agreements, technology service agreements, distribution agreements, consulting agreements, engagement letters, confidentiality agreements and other business and legal documents.
  • Advise BD and AM of potential contractual risks and propose risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver very prompt and pro-active legal advice and solutions.
  • Coordinate with legal, IP and other business colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Give final legal approval for agreements entered into by the company.

Your Skills and Experience

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required 
  • Minimum 10 years prior experience at law firm and/or in-house legal department (continued . . .)
  • Pharmaceutical experience, either working in-house or supporting through private practice is required.
  • Contract drafting and negotiating experience involving complex licensing agreements is required, preferably with experience in biopharmaceuticals.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, able to influence internal and external stakeholders. This individual will be highly visible at all levels of the organization and must be able to build trust and credibility and act with urgency, as needed.
  • Strong written and communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to think strategically and tackle complex problems.
  • Ability to support department goals, track, and report execution progress.
  • Proactive and collaborative, working with key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Substantive experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Up to 15% travel, including international, as needed.

Salary Range

The annual starting salary for this position is between $219,760 - $270,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
