The opportunity
We are seeking a Sr. Director IT Management Operations to lead the IT strategy execution PMO, define and lead a robust IT portfolio management process (investment and resources), drive implementation of contemporary IT processes, and oversee IT compliance and IT employee development. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position requires a blend of strategic thinking and planning, large program management and delivery experience, IT portfolio management skills, and business process management experience in a regulated environment.
This role can be remote however the preferred candidate will reside in the Eastern or Central time zone.
How you’ll spend your day
Strategy
- Lead IT strategy execution PMO to deliver the workstreams on plan including working with workstream leaders to define and manage metrics linked to business and customer value. Maintain IT strategy roadmap in alignment with changing business needs and priorities.
- Develop and maintain IT master plan of programs and strategic activities by aligning all IT units and initiatives with the IT strategy and approved portfolio. Identify and resolve conflicts and align major dependencies.
- Responsible for IT performance governance including metric definition, tracking, management and governance processes.
Portfolio Management
- Implement and manage a rigorous IT portfolio prioritization and management process (and governance) working closely with IT stakeholder managers who partner with their BU stakeholders to prioritize the highest impact IT investments (and stop/defer lower priority efforts).
- Manage the overall IT portfolio capacity (opex and capex, resources) with Finance and HR IT partners, review regularly with the ITLT, and identify and address gaps, conflicts, and changes to maintain alignment with BU and IT strategic priorities.
IT Processes and Compliance
- Modernize the IT methodology and establish standardized core IT processes to reduce waste, improve speed and strengthen quality and compliance.
- Oversee IT coordination with Procurement for strategic vendor management processes
- Coordinate the IT compliance efforts to continuously strengthen the IT compliance posture and culture
Chief of Staff and People Development
- Work with Corporate Communications on IT communications and IT event planning and management including IT townhalls, internal and external CIO speaking engagements, as well as executive and Board of Directors presentations.
- Plan and manage ITLT agendas, actions, and related efforts
- Oversee global IT training and people development in coordination with the IT HR business partner
Your experience and qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in computer science, engineering, operations research or related fields is required
- Master’s degree (MBA or MS in IT Management) is preferred
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL, etc. are preferred
- A Minimum of 10 years of cross-functional IT experience working in a senior role in a fast-paced IT/Digital environment is required
- Must have experience managing a global team
- Proven track record with large program management and IT portfolio management
- Experience defining and managing business cases including quantitative metrics to measure business and customer value
- Understanding of Pharmaceutical company IT compliance requirements and practical operational experience is preferred
- Experience using and/or implementing agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
- Professional IT management consulting experience a plus
- Experience as executive Chief of Staff is a plus
- Strategic thinking and critical thinking skills
- Ability to drive change management processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams across the IT organization
- Organized and structured thinking and approach to identify operating improvement opportunities, and implement practical solutions and/or new processes
Travel Requirements:
Anticipated travel for this role is around 15%
Compensation Data
The annual starting salary for this position is between $236,000 – 309,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
