The opportunity
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Senior IT Director to lead the Commercial IT Portfolio and Digital Strategy for our rapidly growing biotechnology organization. This role will be responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business goals across Commercial, Sales, Marketing, and Patient Services functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in supporting product launches across multiple therapeutic areas, digital transformation, commercial systems, and portfolio management within the life sciences or biotech industry.
Location: This is a hybrid role (3 days/week in office) based in Parsippany, NJ.
How you’ll spend your day
Strategic Leadership
- Define and drive the digital strategy for Commercial functions, aligning with corporate objectives and growth plans.
- Partner with Commercial leadership to identify opportunities for digital innovation and operational efficiency.
- Lead the development of a multi-year IT roadmap for Commercial systems, including CRM, analytics, omnichannel engagement, and digital marketing platforms.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Commercial executives and cross-functional leaders.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion change management and user adoption strategies.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee the Commercial IT portfolio, ensuring alignment with business priorities, budget, and resource availability.
- Establish governance frameworks for project intake, prioritization, and execution.
- Monitor and report on portfolio performance, risks, and benefits realization.
Technology Enablement
- Lead the implementation and optimization of key platforms such as Salesforce, Veeva, Tableau/Power BI, Digital Patient Services Platforms and marketing automation tools.
- Drive data integration and analytics capabilities to support real-time decision-making and customer insights.
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, GDPR, HIPAA).
Team & Vendor Management
- Build and lead a high-performing team of IT professionals, project managers, and business analysts.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and technology partners.
- Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
Your experience and qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 12 years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role supporting Commercial functions in biotech, pharma, or life sciences.
- Proven track record of support product launches, leading digital transformation and managing complex IT portfolios.
- Deep understanding of Commercial operations, including field force enablement, digital marketing, and customer engagement.
- Strong knowledge of CRM and OCM (Salesforce, Veeva), data analytics, cloud platforms, and digital tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Compensation Data
The annual starting salary for this position is between $234,000 - $307,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
