Primary Purpose of the Position

The Sr. Director is responsible for Travel & Meetings Procurement as well as Travel Operations and Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Events (MICE). Directly manage a team of approximately 15-20; This role is responsible for providing global leadership for Teva’s global travel & MICE spend categories and is accountable for developing and implementing a global category strategy that is aligned with Teva corporate strategy and financial goals.  External spend in these categories is approximately $80M.  The role is also responsible for overseeing Teva’s global travel& meeting operations, ensuring highest possible degree of travel and meeting safety and security, and for providing Teva employees with the highest quality of travel and meeting experience at lowest total cost.  He/she will drive cross-collaborative process improvements and assist with other initiatives as needed to support the purchasing of Travel and Event Services at Teva through compliant, scalable processes.

This position is can be based in 1 of 3 Global Teva HQ locations: Parsippany (New Jersey),  Tel Aviv-Yafo (Israel), or Amsterdam (Netherlands)

General Duties and Responsibilities  

Set global direction and category strategy for Teva’s global travel & MICE function, with aggressive savings targets and SLAs aligned with global procurement and business needs. Categories include air travel, hotel, transportation,  credit cards , meetings and events management for all of Teva Pharmaceuticals globally.
Challenge & review global strategy and operating model regarding efficiency/effectiveness of travel and meetings Procurement and Operations on a regular basis
Develop and provide expert-level Travel & MICE category knowledge, with knowledge of the supply base and global market (prices and practices)
Category related Policies &  Procedures ownership
Develop and manage a comprehensive set of metrics and reporting to drive towards best in class external benchmark metrics. 
Work with external suppliers’ sr account and operational management teams on future product enhancements, major developments in the industry the programs and performance
Monitor and explore external trends and factors that impact category strategy and operations, security of supply, costs, etc. via regular interaction with Global Procurement teams and professional forums
Continuously measure and improve customer experience (incl. training and communication)
Implement and ensure execution of key global projects and initiatives in alignment with stakeholders against timeline and deliverables, including identifying bottlenecks, resolving issues and driving towards effective and standardized completion through proven process improvement methodologies 
Own and manage supplier relationship within category, undertaking and delegating supplier performance improvement actions 
Design and build standard global strategies, operational processes and service delivery models that will flex and scale as needed.
Actively develop and maintain knowledge-base of the category and operations and create framework of operations to ensure standardization and transfer of knowledge
Support the development and implementation of technology for global and regional travel/MICE procurement and Travel/MICE operations teams
Ensure teams development and engagement and enable team to achieve objectives

Delivery of savings opportunities (annual plan)
Meet agreed-upon operational budget for travel procurement and Travel/MICE operations
Meet or exceed agreed-upon service level agreements
Supplier performance – at or above expectations
Organizational and employee development 



  • 10+ years of experience managing travel/MICE procurement and travel/MICE operations in organization covering minimum of $150m+ addressable spend
  • Successful track record in driving savings and operational efficiencies in a global, fast-paced, highly matrixed and complex organization
  • Excellent internal and external communications and influencing skills; combining diplomacy with results orientation
  • 5+ years managing travel/MICE sourcing and operations teams on global level within highly complex, matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated strong Team development and management skills
  • Demonstrated change leadership, successfully influencing global stakeholders at all levels
  • Pharma industry experience preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required, master’s degree preferred

  • Proven subject matter expert in Travel and Meeting sourcing and travel operations excellence
  • Substantive knowledge of Travel and Meeting sourcing and operations best practices 
  • Understanding of international business and contract law
  • Constructively challenges status quo to generate open dialogues. 
  • Travel and meetings Systems and MS office skilled 
  • Travel Requirements – International: 30-50%
