Job Description

The purpose of the VEO Field Team Director is to provide leadership, oversight and strategic direction for the VEO field team. The VEO Field Director works collaboratively across Medical Affairs, GHEOR and Market Access to develop and execute Field VEO strategy, tactical plans and field education materials. The position works under the departmental guidance of the Sr. Director of US Field Medical Affairs within North American Medical Affairs.


  • Serves as the primary liaison for the VEO Field Liaison strategy & function across all branded therapeutic areas; represents the VEO Field Team on relevant cross-functional initiative and committees.
  • Collaborates with US Field Medical Affairs Sr. Director, VEO Strategic and Translation Director and Associate Directors, therapeutic MSL Directors and Associate Directors, Medical Directors, GHEOR, commercial brand and market access teams to develop VEO Field initiatives and integrate tactical plans that support the company disease and molecule strategy.
  • Develops scientific meeting strategy and communication in collaboration with GHEOR, brand and market access teams and Scientific Communications for VEO Field activities at assigned external meetings.
  • Leads assessment of disease specific, managed care and outcomes education requirements on all the Teva therapeutic areas and develops VEO Field training/education programs in collaboration with Medical colleagues.
  • Leads the Field VEO strategy effort across all Teva branded therapeutic areas for annual Medical Affairs planning process.
  • Identifies impactful key performance indicators (KPIs) and team metrics to demonstrate contributions of team. 
  • Tracks and reports team metrics and goals to key internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Assists in development and execution of department mission, vision and goals; leverages the business, science and people of Teva


Education required 

  • Strong science/clinical background with advanced degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD)
  • Educational background and/or clinical experience in relevant therapeutic area 


Years and type of experience required

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in pharmaceutical industry (sales, marketing, professional education, medical affairs or clinical research), or equivalent experience in healthcare management and a working knowledge of related fields 
  • Demonstrated excellence in current role; emphasis on leadership, management, product knowledge, flexibility, proven ability to develop and coach others


Specific type of experience preferred 

  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience
  • minimum 2 Years of field experience as Field Based Outcomes Liaison or similar background desired
  • Previous leadership experience in Medical Affairs or similar department
  • Minimum 5 years of HEOR experience
  • Significant experience in health outcomes or life sciences.
  • Depth and breadth of experience to address US payer environmental challenges, and develop strategies that will meet decision maker’s needs.
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence in a matrix team environment.
  • Highly experienced and familiar with US payer landscape, including formulary decision making process.
  • Strong understanding of pricing and reimbursement across multiple sites of care
  • Strategic thinker who can frame complex problems and articulate clear, data-driven recommendations
  • Sound organizational and project management skills which focus on delivery of results.
  • Proven ability to motivate and collaborate with both internal and external teams
  • Strong knowledge of planning and budgeting processes and practices

Requires approximately 50% overnight travel with several night and/or weekend activities
