The opportunity
The Director of Strategic GPO Contracting is responsible for leading and managing the strategic development, negotiation, and execution of contracts with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and other strategic purchasing partners. This role plays a critical part in driving market access, improving revenue generation, and ensuring compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and business requirements. The Director will work closely with internal stakeholders across Account Management, Payer Marketing, Brand, Finance, Legal, and Operations to optimize GPO contract performance, improve product access, and achieve organizational goals. This position will have direct reports and support Teva’s Branded and Biosimilar portfolio.
Location: This is a hybrid opportunity that can be based out of our Parsippany, NJ or West Chester, PA offices.

Strategic GPO Contract Development:
- Oversee and implement contract strategy and deliverables for Hospital GPO customers
- Lead the creation, revision, and management of all GPO contract templates, language libraries, and standardized documents
- Serve as a subject matter expert on contract structure, terminology, and risk mitigation strategies with keen understanding of how contractual language impacts financial modeling; support Account Management in customer meetings and negotiations as needed
- Monitor industry developments, including regulations, pricing pressures, and shifts in the GPO landscape
- Provide insight into the competitive GPO environment and recommend positioning strategies for future contracts
- Ensure GPO contracts accurately reflect negotiated terms and align with organizational financial and operational objectives
Contract Negotiation & Execution:
- Oversee RFP bid preparations and contract negotiations with GPOs, balancing organizational goals for mutually beneficial outcomes
- Lead and oversee the contract approval process to ensure proper Governance, organizational awareness and Leadership alignment
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of contracts, including pricing, rebates, terms, and conditions
- Monitor contract implementation to ensure compliance with negotiated terms and resolve any disputes or performance issues
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Account Management, Payer Marketing, Brand, Pricing, Finance and Operations teams to ensure that GPO contracts align with product strategies, promotional efforts, and pricing structures
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Finance to ensure contracts meet regulatory standards and business objectives
- Provide strategic input to Leadership on GPO market trends, including regulations, pricing pressures, and shifts in the GPO landscape.
Contract Analytics & Performance Monitoring:
- Lead the development of tools and systems for preparing pre and post-deal contract analytics to inform contracting decisions and performance, including sales impact, discount management, including competitor and customer views
- Provide regular reports on contract performance and ROI, highlighting successes, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Support the development and tracking of GPO-related KPIs to ensure alignment with corporate objectives
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of contracting professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous development
- Provide guidance and support on contract negotiation best practices, operational efficiency, and problem-solving
- Ensure that team members are well-versed in GPO contract strategies, legal requirements, and the overall business objectives
Your experience and qualifications
Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Education/Certification/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in GPO contracting, healthcare contracting, or market access, with at least 4 years in a leadership or senior role
- Strong understanding of GPO structures, purchasing dynamics, and healthcare reimbursement models
- Proven experience leading contract negotiations and managing large-scale, high-value contracts
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or healthcare industry regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with a deep understanding of pricing strategies, discount/rebate structures, and contract performance analysis
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Experience with GPO contract management software or Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools
- Knowledge of government pricing programs and their impact on GPO contracts
- Demonstrated success in leading complex, multi-party negotiations within the healthcare or life sciences industry
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with experience managing teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Approximately 5 – 10% domestic travel throughout the US.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional:
Sitting for extended periods of time at workstation or mobile equipment.
Visual Acuity:
Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed on site visits (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.).
