The opportunity
The Director, Managed Care Payer Contracting is a key leadership role within Value & Access that’s responsible for overseeing the development, negotiation, preparation, and operational excellence of Payer contract documentation. This position ensures that all contracting templates, deal structures, and amendments are accurately authored, aligned with strategic objectives, compliant with regulatory requirements, and effectively support revenue goals. The Director will collaborate closely with the Account Management, Legal, Finance, Operations, and Compliance teams to drive efficiency and consistency across the contract lifecycle. This position will have multiple direct reports and support Teva’s Innovative and Biosimilar product portfolio.
Location: This is a hybrid opportunity that can be based out of our Parsippany, NJ or West Chester, PA offices.
How you’ll spend your day

- Lead the creation, revision, and management of all payer contract templates, language libraries, and standardized documents
- Serve as a subject matter expert on contract structure, terminology, and risk mitigation strategies with keen understanding of how contractual language impacts financial modeling; support Account Management in customer meetings and negotiations as needed
- Closely Partner with the Account Managment, Payer Analytics, Payer Marketing and Finance to prepare customized contracts and amendments that support strategic payer initiatives
- Ensure payer contracts accurately reflect negotiated terms and align with organizational financial and operational objectives
- Lead and oversee the contract approval process to ensure proper governance, organizational awareness and Leadership alignment
- Develop and implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality control measures for payer contract authoring
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure contracts adhere to current laws, regulations, and accreditation standards
- Implement contract management systems or technology solutions to improve workflow, tracking, version control, and collaboration
- Monitor industry trends, regulations, and payer market dynamics to proactively adjust contract templates and terms as needed
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of contract authors
- Train and mentor internal stakeholders on contracting processes and best practices
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and due diligence activities related to payer agreements
Your experience and qualifications
Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Education/Certification/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA, JD or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 10 years of Brand Pharmaceutical Pricing and Contracting or equivalent related experience
- Minimum 4 years of leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives
- Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement models and benefit designs (pharmacy, medical benefit, innovative and value-based contracting, etc.), regulatory environments, and commercial and government payer dynamics
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong financial acumen, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate insights into business impacts and actionable next steps
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex negotiation points into clear, actionable contract language
- Deep experience within Commercial GPO/PBM/MBMs, Medicare Part D/B and Medicaid contracting channels
- Understanding of U.S. regulations and policies relating to manufacturer contracting
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Approximately 5 – 10% domestic travel throughout the US.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional:
- Sitting for extended periods of time at workstation or mobile equipment.
Visual Acuity:
- Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed on site visits (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.).
