The IT Director, CRM & Marketing Technology Strategy is a senior technology leader responsible for shaping and executing the CRM and marketing technology roadmap that enables customer-centric, data-driven Commercial excellence. This role oversees enterprise CRM platforms, omnichannel marketing capabilities, digital engagement tools, and their integration across the US Commercial ecosystem.
The ideal candidate brings deep CRM/MarTech expertise (Veeva, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe, Informatica), understands pharma commercial models, and is adept at aligning technology strategy with brand, field, and digital marketing needs. This leader will drive innovation, scale, and operational excellence across the customer engagement landscape.
How You’ll Spend Your Day
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Ownership
• Define and execute the CRM & Marketing Technology strategy aligned with Commercial brand plans, field engagement strategies, and digital transformation goals.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Digital Engagement leaders.
• Continuously evaluate market trends, emerging technologies, and customer expectations to shape future capabilities.
2. CRM Platform Ownership (Veeva & Salesforce)
• Own the strategy, architecture, and enhancement roadmap for Veeva CRM, including MyInsights, CLM, Events Management, and approved email.
• Oversee Salesforce capabilities (Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud/Pardot, Experience Cloud) to support omnichannel and field enablement needs.
• Ensure seamless integration across CRM, MDM, data platforms, digital channels, and analytics tools.
• Drive field usability, data quality, and optimized workflows to enhance engagement effectiveness.
3. Marketing Technology (MarTech) & Omnichannel Enablement
• Lead strategy and delivery of the end-to-end MarTech stack including:
o Marketing automation (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe, Veeva CRM Engage)
o Customer data platforms (CDP) and identity resolution
o Digital content management and modular content (e.g., Veeva Vault PromoMats)
o Journey orchestration and personalization
• Partner with Digital and Brand Marketing to enable campaign execution, targeting, segmentation, and omnichannel orchestration.
4. Data, Integration & Analytics Enablement
• Lead data strategy supporting CRM and MarTech, leveraging Informatica (IDMC, IICS, MDM, DQ) for integration, mastering, and data quality.
• Ensure CRM and digital engagement data flows seamlessly into analytics, dashboards, and AI models.
• Partner with Commercial Data & Analytics teams to operationalize segmentation, targeting, insights, and predictive models within CRM and MarTech platforms.
5. Delivery, Governance & Vendor Management
• Manage end to end delivery of CRM and digital marketing capabilities using Agile and product management methodologies.
• Oversee key technology partners (Veeva, Salesforce, Adobe, Informatica, agencies) for capability development, innovation, and value realization.
• Ensure platforms adhere to compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, GxP, audit controls).
• Establish governance for campaign execution, content workflows, data standards, and platform usage.
6. Stakeholder & Cross Functional Leadership
• Partner closely with Commercial Operations, Field Leadership, Brand Teams, Digital, Compliance, Legal, and Global IT.
• Enable business teams through training, change management, adoption programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with senior Commercial leaders to ensure technology aligns with business priorities.
Your Skills and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Required
• 10+ years in CRM, MarTech, Digital, or Commercial IT roles, preferably within pharmaceutical or life sciences.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Deep hands-on experience with Veeva CRM, Salesforce (CRM, Marketing Cloud), Veeva Vault PromoMats, and Informatica for integration and data management.
• Strong understanding of Commercial processes—omnichannel engagement, digital campaigns, field enablement, content activation, data flows, and analytics.
• Proven ability to build and deliver complex CRM/MarTech capabilities in matrixed environments.
• Experience leading technical teams, agencies, and platform vendors.
Preferred
• Experience with innovative, specialty, or rare-disease drug launches.
• Knowledge of CDP technologies, identity resolution, and AI/ML marketing tools.
• Master’s degree in Information Systems, Marketing Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Salary Range
The annual starting salary for this position is between $161,000 – $202,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
