The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. As part of our Finance and Commercial teams, you’ll play an essential role in improving the quality of our financial reporting and support the largest Business in


How you’ll spend your day

In this role, you will monitor day to day inventory transactions to ensure commercial inventory is properly reported in the financial statements as well as perform in depth analysis on a plant level for inventory and COGS.  This position interacts with internal and external customers. The duties are diversified and involve an advanced knowledge of Cost Accounting principles as well as the proper use of judgment in determining appropriate course of action.  The incumbent prepares inventory related reports to complete the month end close process and supports overall finance initiatives of continuous improvements and improved quality of financial reporting.  The Cost Accountant II works under minimal supervision, in accordance with established procedures and directly supports the Assoc. Director, US Commercial Cost Accounting. Day to day, you will; 

    • Complete all relevant aspects of the period end financial close process 
    •  Support commercial and TPO business partners
    •  Complete provision accruals/ reporting details for consolidation team for NA write-offs results
    •  Support product costing financial analysis during AOP planning process, manage cost alignment between operations and commercial business units
    •  Prepare monthly reviews and annual audit deliverables for cost accounting areas
    •  Support and maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliant documentation
    •  Support FP&A team around commercial inventory, write-offs, COGS and free cash flow/net collections reporting
    •  Helps support tax reporting efforts relating to inventory and COGS
    •  Participate in Americas and Global Finance initiatives as required


Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered. 


•    Requires Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university. 
•    At least 3+ year’s cost accounting experience in a mid to large public company with an emphasis on plant manufacturing and/or pharmaceutical industry background
•    Prior experience in manufacturing or cost accounting for Pharmaceutical Products is preferred.
•    Experience with SAP and Hyperion valued


•    Prior experience complex matrix corporate environments preferred.
•    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and inter-cultural competence.
•    Strong Interpersonal and people skills, in particular the ability to build relationships and influence others.
•    The ability to calculate complex cost accounting formulas such as: inventory turns, net realizable value, gross margin, inter-company eliminations. 
•    Ability to manipulate large databases.
•    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Some business travel might be required.
