The opportunity

The Associate Director, Government Pricing is expected to be a subject matter expert on all price calculations and relevant government legislation. The Associate Director will act as a liaison with Brand business units to offer go-forward projections of government pricing and price protection rebates. Other core responsibilities include modeling financial impacts to support contracting decisions, innovative strategies, price changes, and legislative changes with respect to government pricing on innovative brands. The Associate Director is expected to ensure compliance with government legislation and Teva’s pricing policies by managing policy filters in Teva’s GP system. This position will report to the Sr. Director – Government Pricing & Compliance.

How you’ll spend your day

Major duties and responsibilities required to achieve the position’s objectives and be successful in the AD, Government Pricing role.                    
        
•    Consult with business units to stay current on current contract terms, pricing strategies, and proposals for promoted brands & biosimilars. Calculate and communicate financial impacts related to gov’t price changes on Teva’s brands/biosimilars. Modeling may be required to offer insight into the impacts of audit findings, proposed pricing actions, legislative/policy changes, customer Class of Trade changes, etc. – GP Financial Impacts        
•    Forecast and communicate projected AMP, Best Price, CPI penalty, and the Federal URA for all promoted brand/biosimilar products.  Provide expertise and guidance on Medicaid URA and PHS/Apexus pricing. – Forecasting       
•    Review existing and newly released CMS and VA communications on pharmaceutical pricing. Partner with counsel to communicate shifts in guidance to GP’s internal business partners. Periodically attend Pricing and Contracting training and industry meetings to stay current on regulatory requirements, Medicaid and Federal pricing regulations, and legislation impacting pharmaceutical pricing. – Legislative Policy Review        
•    Evaluate financial impacts of proposed Price Protection language on Managed Care contracts. Manage Price Protection modeling efforts to support rebate invoice verification, GTN forecasting, and Brand Pricing analyses. – Price Protection        
•    Manage Teva’s pricing policies and reasonable assumption documents. Gain alignment with other members of GP, and update policy filters, as needed, in Model N to ensure gov’t price calculations perform as required. Secure proper approvals in advance of changes. – GP Policy Filters        

Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education:   Bachelor’s Degree required; Focus in Mathematics, Finance, or related business discipline highly preferred; MBA preferred

Years of experience required:
•    Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
•    Minimum 3 years of experience within government pricing.

Specific type of experience required:
•    Demonstrated broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
•    Strong understanding of the regulatory requirements as it pertains to contracting, third-party payers, and the government pricing environment.
•    Knowledge of U.S. Government pricing statutes and regulations including knowledge of OBRA 90, OBRA 93, Deficit Reduction Act, VA Healthcare Act, the Medicare Modernization Act, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
•    Strong financial analysis skills including extensive familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
•    Ability to prepare and present results to senior management.
•    Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across business units and functional areas.
•    Excellent attention to detail, as well as organizational, planning, and written/verbal communication skills.
                                                            
Specific type of experience preferred:
•    Pharmaceutical brand pricing/contracting experience
•    Forecasting and predictive modeling experience, within government pricing is a plus.

•    Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and well versed in Data and Query tools.

Compensation Data

The annual starting salary for this position is between $155,000 – $193,000 annually.  Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
