The opportunity

The Associate Director of GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) is a pivotal role that will lead the contracting activities for Teva’s GPO partnerships, ensuring optimized value from these contractual relationships as consistent with Teva’s objectives. This position will partner closely with internal stakeholders across Account Management, Payer Marketing, Finance, Legal, IT and Operations in support of Teva’s Branded and Biosimilar portfolio.  This role will have one direct report.

 

Location: This is a hybrid opportunity that can be based out of our Parsippany, NJ or West Chester, PA offices.

How you’ll spend your day

Contract Development & Negotiation:

  • Lead the development and execution of contracting strategies with GPOs to ensure alignment with Brand and organizational goals  
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert to propose and craft contract language as consistent with intent and business objectives 
  • Manage the RFP bid process, negotiate, renew, and manage contracts with GPO partners to maximize value, cost efficiencies, and service levels 
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and internal stakeholders to ensure all contracts comply with organizational and regulatory requirements 
  • Oversee the contract approval process to ensure proper Governance, organizational awareness and Leadership alignment 

 

Data & Financial Analysis: 

  • Analyze and interpret purchasing data and market trends to proactively identify opportunities for new contract negotiations or improvements to existing agreements 
  • Function as team’s lead to utilize data analytics to track GPO performance, savings achieved, and identify areas for future opportunities 
  • Prepare and refine pre and post deal analyses to inform contract decision making and assess ROI 
  • Take point as Finance’s liaison to capture all contractual changes impacting financial projections for accruals and business planning purposes 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Partner with the Account Management, Payer Marketing, Finance, and Pricing teams to constructively pressure-test and ensure alignment on all proposals and contracting recommendations 
  • Provide expert guidance and training on GPO contracting strategies to internal teams 
  • Work with IT and Market Access Analytics to create efficiencies and continuously improve analytical views (e.g. contract performance dashboards) 
  • Role model a high-performance culture by promoting best practices with a collaborative, supportive and positive mind-set to meet Teva’s objectives 

 

Compliance & Risk Management: 

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal regulations, and industry standards throughout the contracting process 
  • Proactively identify potential risks related to GPO contracting and develop mitigation strategies for presentation to leadership, as necessary 
  • Lead and facilitate the internal and external audit process, as well as dispute resolution in partnership with Compliance, as necessary 

Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.  

 

Education/Certification/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field. MBA, JD or advanced degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in contract management, procurement, or supply chain management with a focus on GPO contracting 
  • Direct report leadership experience 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 

  • Proven track record of negotiating complex contracts and managing GPO contractual relationships in a corporate setting; legal training is a plus 
  • Experience in the healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or other industries with GPO relationships is highly desirable 
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with experience managing direct report(s) in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment 
  • Strong financial acumen and contract language development skills with keen attention to detail 
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information and business proposals to all levels of management and leadership 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Approximately 5-10% domestic travel throughout the US. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

 

Occasional: 

  • Sitting for extended periods of time at workstation or mobile equipment. 

 

Visual Acuity: 

  • Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading. 

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT 

 

  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed on site visits (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.).
