Job Description

This key role will report directly to the VP, NA Supply Chain and Distribution, managing insourced distribution centers in the US and Canada. The Sr. Director will be a hands-on leader with significant experience in procurement, planning, ensuring inventory accuracy, as well as freight and transportation planning. This position will be a key business leader charged with driving significant change, expansion and process discipline in organization. The leader will work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Global Sourcing, Product Development, Commercial Ops and Supply Chain, and other functional leaders to ensure the Distribution and Logistics strategy is defined and aligned with the Company’s overall strategic direction and goals. The successful candidate will have experience in both Generic and Specialty Pharma distribution across multiple locations. This position will ensure that we provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

  • Own the development, leadership, and execution of the Distribution and Logistics strategic plan which includes: 
    •     Distribution Planning 
    •     Inventory Control 
    •     Freight & Transportation 
    •     Financial budgeting
  • Work cross functionally and optimize all interdependencies with Manufacturing, Commercial Operations, and Supply Chain 
  • Lead and develop a Distribution and Logistics team through clear goal setting, feedback and coaching  Oversee initiatives and solutions that mitigate supply risk while balancing investments in working capital and achieving cost reduction 
  • Work closely with the executive team and functional leaders to establish priorities for selected opportunities, set ambitious but achievable goals to improve efficiency and fulfill the company’s broader objectives 
  • Establish formal process for capacity planning, inventory management and establishing service level expectations for North American Distribution Centers 
  • Create a transportation and freight strategy that provides for short- and long-term benefits. The strategy should address capacity planning, carrier strategies, freight and duty charges, brokerage costs, utilization of technology, capital planning, as well as demand management and inventory/category management
  • Evaluate freight performance and quality and plans for improvement 
  • Understand 3rd party distribution center operations, backlogs, service levels and issue resolution processes 
  • Set and manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs
  • Use technology to coordinate and control the order cycle 
  • Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs 
  • Liaise and negotiate with owned operations and suppliers 
  • Optimize business by evaluating new vendor and other contracts, analyzing logistical and freight routes, distribution strategies inventory methodology and improving the purchasing process 
  • Monitor and support e-commerce freight strategies 
  • Continually analyze and stay current with the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures, provide recommendations for improved processes and performance 
  • Promote and implement environmental, health and safety procedures via EHS leader, ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and security of the physical facilities 
  • Accountable for the overall financial performance of the Supply Chain and Logistics Department; developing budgets, monitoring performance, and ensuring goal attainment 
  • Serve as the North American Supply Chain representative with the Global Logistics team, ensuring alignment between Global and Regional priorities and project


  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in Distribution Operations or Logistics Operations required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical degree, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience is required
  • Multi-Site Distribution Operations leadership experience is required
  • Extensive customer fulfillment, warehousing, and materials handling background required
  • Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and collaborating cross functionally
