Job Description

The Senior Manager, Customs & Trade Compliance Management North America will ensure compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and other applicable government agencies, including but not limited to:  Center for Disease Control, Census Bureau, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Communications Commission, Fish & Wildlife, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Foreign Assets Control et al.  The Senior CTC Manager will ensure compliance with agency regulations  by adhering to and promoting the Teva USA Customs/OGA Compliance Program, updating our program as necessary due to regulatory changes, performing product compliance reviews, updating our Compliance manual work instructions, conducting internal audits, assisting with annual Reconciliation submissions, creating and managing new USMCA (free trade agreement) qualification reviews, leading process improvement, educating internal/external stakeholders and associated responsibilities.  This role requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented, experienced Customs & Trade Compliance professional with extensive Customs and other government agency expertise as well as the ability to comprehend complicated compliance issues and translate to ensure non-CTC stakeholder understanding.  The Senior CTC Manager must excel at conducting meticulous, accurate and high-quality research, mastering complex situations and intricate compliance issues, monitoring regulatory changes, as well as understanding and communicating the impact to internal/external stakeholders.  The ability to function in a high-paced and challenging environment is critical.

General duties and responsibilities

  • Supports Associate Director NA Customs, Compliance & Processes in development and implementation of regional goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and 14+ other government agencies
  • Monitor, research and respond to information requests and official government notices in an accurate, complete and expedited manner:  Customs, FDA, USDA, other government agencies, Customs broker & internal stakeholders
  • Ensures staff are trained, technically competent and well informed of changes in service requirements and regulations;  
  • Collaborate with Transport team, Warehousing & Distribution team, finance and tax on (duties/tax) optimization projects; 
  • Assist with PLAIR products and commercial launches, collaborating with the New Products Introductions team, Regulatory Affairs, manufacturing/packaging sites and other Teva leadership to identify products, understand business requirements, formulate import strategy, inform and guide team and Customs broker/LSP and execute plan.
  • Advise all sites/markets/finance on regular basis about relevant changes in relevant laws, including updates about taxes and duties.
  • Support in the CTPAT and reconciliation programs. 
  • Assist with review and transition to our upgraded electronic Customs and Product Library 
  • Assist with CTC Compliance Manual and associated SOP/work instructions review, recommend and implement revisions, process improvements and conduct training with TUSA CTC team members and Customs broker
  • Other projects and duties as required/assigned 


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8 years’ experience working with Customs and other agencies


Specialized or Technical Knowledge licenses, Certifications needed:

  • Licensed Customs Broker:                
    • May obtain within 1 year after starting at Teva and must maintain while employed at Teva
  • NCBFAA CCS (Certificated Compliance Specialist):    
    • May obtain CCS after starting at Teva
    • Must maintain CCS while employed at Teva (earn annual credits, as required by CCS)


Company / Industry Related knowledge:

  • Experience working in a government regulated environment preferred
  • Pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • CBP ACE system experience 



  • Excellent understanding of customs regulations and the ability to convert into practical processes.

  • Able to work in a fast pasted, changing environment
  • Able to work with tight and strict deadlines
  • Strong Interpersonal/Relationship Management (communication and influencing) skills
