Job Description

Reporting to the Sr Director, Market Access, this position will ensure Teva Canada Innovation (TCI) medicines gain optimal patient access through robust market access, pricing and reimbursement strategies for maximizing formulary listings with public and private payers in Canada.

The Sr Manager, Market Access role entails the following:


Develop and implement market access, pricing and reimbursement strategies

  • Develop innovative market access strategies and tactical plans to achieve optimal reimbursement with public and private payers in Canada for the TCI products portfolio;
  • Translate clinical, economic and humanistic value of TCI medicines into payers metrics;
  • Develop robust pricing analyses and submissions to PMPRB;
  • Monitor pricing environment and ensure regular adjustments and reporting;
  • Develop compelling value dossiers to establish the clinical and pharmacoeconomic evidence of value of TCI products with public and private payers;
  • Ensure the development of high quality health technology assessments (HTA) submissions to public and private payers;
  • Develop health economics (HE) studies for the Canadian Market (e.g. burden of illness, cost-effectiveness, budget impact analyses, etc.);
  • In collaboration with medical affairs, develop innovative health economics and outcomes research studies (e.g. meta-analyses, real-world evidence, patient-reported outcomes etc.) to support value propositions;
  • Prepare reimbursement submissions to CADTH/pCODR/INESSS/provincial and territorial drug plans/private payers, and ensure quality assurance;
  • Liaise with HTA agencies (CADTH, pCODR, INESSS), provincial/territorial drug plans, private payers, pan Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA), PMPRB, government officials, patient advocacy groups, academic experts, medical specialists and other stakeholders;
  • Monitor the evolution of the Canadian market access landscape and participate in its shaping;
  • Attend medical/HE conferences/advisory boards/payers meetings/focus groups to stay abreast of new market access developments;
  • Lead market access projects and studies with external vendors, and ensure timely and high quality deliverables according to HTA requirements;
  • Manage projects and budgets within set targets and timelines.

Travel: 10% of time

 

 

Qualifications

 

Scientific and business acumen

  • Demonstrate strong scientific and business acumen (capacity to understand and interpret complex scientific and business intelligence data to derive effective market access strategies);
  • Using best practices, lead the development of robust HTA submissions for public and private payers;
  • Strong prior experience in the following therapeutic areas: central nervous system (multiple sclerosis, migraine), oncology, or respiratory (asthma) to establish the comparative value of TCI medicines from the payers’ perspective;
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills;

Strategic vision and thinking

  • Design innovative market access strategies to leverage opportunities and overcome reimbursement barriers;
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership by anticipating market access opportunities and gaps;
  • Develop and implement market access strategic imperatives and tactical plans per assigned product;
  • Understand the reimbursement landscape in Canada and the links between various agencies, government bodies, public/private payers, and the inner-workings of these organizations;

Cross-functional teamwork

  • Collaborate cross-functionally (brand teams, medical, regulatory affairs, etc.);
  • Give input on brand strategies to optimize market access potential;
  • Interact with Global teams to adapt global value strategy to the Canadian Market;

  • Liaise effectively with HTA and pricing agencies, HE and medical experts, government officials, drug plan managers, patient advocacy groups, trade associations and other stakeholders;
  • Lead contractual agreements and provide guidance to external vendors;

Communication skills

  • Communicate transparently and in a persuasive manner;
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills;
  • Present and convey complex concepts to different audiences;
  • Bilingual (spoken/written French and English);

Professional qualifications

  • Educational requirement: Bachelor Degree in life sciences (eg. pharmacy, epidemiology, public health, healthcare administration, biochemistry, and other related fields);
  • Educational assets: MSc, MBA, MD or PhD in Health economics;
  • Minimum prior 10-15 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, including 5 years in Market Access/HE/pricing roles;
  • Experience in developing and leading market access strategies, robust value dossiers and HTA submissions;
  • Strong experience in developing pricing strategies and submissions;
  • Prior experience in cross-functional work environments;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and modelling tools.
