Job Description

MSL - Western Canada region

As the face of TCI Medical Affairs, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field based scientific expert who leads scientific exchange with External Experts (EEs) and provides education to health care providers (HCPs) on TCI products (CNS and Respiratory), as well as advances in research and clinical practice. The objective is to disseminate scientifically rigorous data, providing medical and technical expertise to ensure awareness and appropriate use of TCI products. The MSL will also be prepared to provide best-in-class scientific and project support for internal, cross-functional initiatives and scientific insight/training to assist Sales, Marketing, and Medical Affairs colleagues. All activities will be executed in alignment with medical strategies developed by TCI Medical Affairs Team.


The MSL position at TCI provides value through insightful and critical analysis of research in the therapeutic area of interest and communication of that knowledge both internally and externally.


Responsibilities will include:


Provide scientific credibility and expertise to the medical community that is aligned with TCI Medical strategies


  • Provide HCPs with concise and unbiased medical and scientific information (within corporate guidelines) including disease state topics of interest as well as safe and appropriate use of TCI products in CNS and Respiratory;
  • Execute scientific/educational presentations to EEs/HCPs within their therapeutic area setting, at medical or commercial advisory boards, and speaker training meetings;
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with various types of external stakeholders including EEs, HCPs, and Payers;
  • Use of appropriate, ethical judgment in the distribution of all information, whether written or verbal.





    Develop and maintain relationships with EEs and HCPs to support the Medical strategies


  • Develop peer-to-peer relationships with EEs and HCPs that result in scientific understanding of TCI products in CNS and Respiratory, therapeutic area, disease states, and opportunities for partnerships;
  • Demonstrate a consistent/ high level field presence with face-to-face meetings with EEs and HCPs; and
  • Professionally represent TCI at select medical meetings and programs.


     Serve as a medical and scientific resource for internal/external stakeholders


  • Demonstrate scientific credibility during internal Medical Affairs therapeutic training events (eg, MSL Journal Clubs, teleconferences and Data Crunch meetings);
  • Provide medical and scientific training support to Medical and Commercial teams;
  • Serve as an internal expert in assigned therapeutic area(s) and products;
  • Participate in multiple internal therapeutic project teams, providing field perspective as well as thoughtful analysis of available data;
  • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence as appropriate; and
  • Provide medical and scientific information for responding to an unsolicited request for medical information regarding TCI products and related therapeutic areas

    Provide support for research initiatives including, but not limited to: 

  • TCI-sponsored trials;
  • Investigator-sponsored studies; and
  • Health Economics and Outcomes Research.


  • MD, PhD or PharmD
  • A minimum of five years in a similar role in Medical Affairs
  • Experience in CNS (i.e. Migraine, Multiple Sclerosis, Pain) and Respiratory (i.e. Asthma), biologics and drug device combinations is preferred
  • Deep knowledge of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) including Pk, PD, and their metabolism
  • Thorough understanding of research processes and critical analyses of Phase I-III clinical trials, post-marketing studies and Health Economic and Outcomes Research,
  • Proven ability to manage projects
