Job Summary: The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and comprehensive sample processing during screening, admission, study conduct, and discharge laboratory procedures.
Essential Functions
• Performs laboratory procedures and processes in strict compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), QNQC procedures, OSHA guidelines and other state
and local regulations as applicable, ensuring strict compliance to the study protocol at all times
• Ensures license remains active by means of at least minimum continuing educational requirements, as stated in the CLIA and State in which the Diagnostic Laboratory operates guidelines with regards to licensing
• Ensures the daily maintenance of the diagnostic laboratory equipment, and informs the Senior Manager, Clinical Operations if any issues with equipment arise
• Ensures the timely entry of lab results and controls into the appropriate databases/reports
• Maintains a safe, clean, and neat working environment
• Able to obtain vital signs and perform ECGs and venipuncture
• Works with the Quality Assurance team in the development, revision, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, as required
• Ensures resume (CV) is updated annually, as required
• Follows OSHA requirements for safe workplace and Biohazardous Guidelines
• Strives to consistently uphold company core values
• Executes other duties as required by the Senior Manager, Clinical Operations, and/or management team, as training and experience allow
• Provides administrative and operational support as a member of the site team
Your Skills and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A state of Florida License as a Medical Technologist is required.
Experience
- A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience in a clinical environment
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Laboratory Technologist or equivalent
Certification/Licensure:
- State of Florida Medical Technologist Licensure in areas in which the laboratory will be performing testing
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Other pertinent qualifications/skills/knowledge necessary to perform the essential functions of the job)
• Possesses strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience with laboratory processing equipment and ability to aliquot biological specimens preferred
• Trained in OSHA, Chemical Right to Know Hazard Communication, Biohazardous Waste and Fire and Safety
• Possesses a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Able to maintain professionalism at all times and the ability to work with internal and
external clients to maintain excellent professional relationships
• Possesses a working knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation and time-management skills
• Able to work under extremely tight deadlines
• Strong analytical and decision making skills
• Able to coordinate workloads to meet extremely tight deadlines
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Decisive, possesses good decision making skills, able to escalate response to situations, when necessary
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Able to manage laboratory quality control and analyze inter-laboratory peer group data
• Ensure all CLIA requirements for Clinical laboratory Operation are met.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Physical Demands:
- Routine keyboarding
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Work Environment:
- Laboratory and clinical environment
- Non-supervisory, non-managerial
