The opportunity
As a Laboratory Manager at Watson Therapeutics, Inc. (Teva Pharmaceuticals) you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to laboratory personnel, including evaluation and monitoring of quality and timeliness of all laboratory procedures.
How you’ll spend your day
- Direct and coordinate laboratory personnel and ensures that all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), QA/QC procedures, OSHA guidelines and other state and local regulations as applicable, ensuring strict compliance to the study protocol at all times.
- Lead and manage the execution of new laboratory projects, such as PBMC isolation, ensuring proper planning, resource allocation, staff training, and adherence to protocols. Monitor project, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful deliver within specified timelines and quality standards
- Attend Study Initiation Meetings, reviews sample processing and storage procedures and shipping arrangements with the Sponsor
- Perform Quality Control and Assurance to ensure the accuracy and precision of lab results, while also overseeing corrective actions for any discrepancies
- Develop, review, and update laboratory standard procedures (SOPs) to align with industry standards, protocols, and organizational goals. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including safety standards and certifications.
- Coordinate with outside laboratories for study specific lab panels and transfers of electronic data files, if necessary
- Ensure availability of adequate supplies are available for each study. Oversee the lab’s financials, managing budget for supplies, equipment and staffing to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of lab operations.
- Ensure quality check of sample labels and study day set-up. Perform and oversees venipuncture and IV catheter insertion for sample collection
- Oversee the shipping of samples as requested by each Sponsor including confirmation of sample arrival
- Respond to notifications of freezer or refrigerator alarms. Maintain records of laboratory freezer and refrigerator temperature logs
Your experience and qualifications
- Associate of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician
- Record of Training for the handling and offering for transport of Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Material
- 1-2 years of experience in an early-phase clinical research laboratory environment and clinical research conduct
- 1-2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, QA/QC procedures, OSHA guidelines, and other state and local regulations as applicable
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven managerial and leadership skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism at all times and work effectively with internal and external clients to establish and maintain excellent professional relationships
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and time-management skills
- Able to work under extremely tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Able to coordinate workloads to meet demanding deadlines
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
