The opportunity
As Director of Government Affairs, you will lead the identification of opportunities and risks in the development of policies that may influence the development of the company and the sector in which it operates. You will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of Teva's advocacy actions with political and governmental stakeholders, professional associations, and patient associations, aligned with Teva's global vision and priorities. This position is critical to strengthening Teva's reputation and ensuring that those around us understand the nature of our work and our contribution to health, society, and the environment. You will be a key advisor to senior management, ensuring that the various actions are impactful, consistent, and aligned with business objectives.
How you’ll spend your day
Advocacy & Public Affairs Strategy
- Designing and executing government affairs strategies to support patient access & innovation, including developing position papers, key messages, and engagement plans.
- Aligning public affairs activities with business priorities.
- Leading all patient advocacy group engagement, ensuring compliance and adherence to governance requirements.
Strategic Thinking & Business Impact
- Environmental monitoring, analysis and recommendations in respect of business policy risks and opportunities.
- Providing senior leadership with strategic guidance on all aspects of government affairs.
- Fully integrated GA strategy provision, including scenario planning, risk assessments, in respect of business relevant policy changes.
- Ensuring government engagement supports long-term business growth.
Compliance & Ethical Conduct
- Responsible and accountable for GA activities adherence to all industry, regulatory and legal governance requirements – EFPIA, GDPR and data privacy, transparency, lobbying.
- Managing ethical patient group interactions and ensuring compliance with all EFPIA and country industry regulations.
- Preventing conflicts of interest in public affairs activities.
- Working with compliance and legal training GA and internal teams on GA relevant compliance requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Leading cross-functional teams (market access, medical policy) to execute advocacy plans.
- Engaging senior leadership on public policy issues.
- Driving organizational influence in policy discussions at industry forums.
- Creating a culture of proactive strategic government engagement.
Your experience and qualifications
- University Degree. Preferably in Government Affairs, Public Relations, or Institutional Relations.
- Proven experience in leading Government Affairs at a senior level, within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Supported successful launch of innovative medicines in area of neuroscience or immunologic drugs.
- Strong networking at healthcare system level.
- Demonstrated success in managing interaction with PAGs.
- Demonstrated success in managing teams, budgets, and cross-functional projects.
- Fluent in English and Spanish. Portuguese is a strong advantage.
