The opportunity

The Associate Director Retail Generics and OTC sales is responsible for leading and managing the national sales force across national territories. This role includes developing and executing strategic sales plans, coaching and developing sales teams, and driving performance to meet commercial objectives. The position also serves as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and continuous improvement in processes, programs, and team capabilities.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Achieve national retail sales targets across generics and OTC portfolios
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical sales plans for assigned territories
  • Build and lead national OTC sales capabilities with a focus on sustainable growth
  • Provide regular performance feedback and coaching to sales managers and OTC Key Account Managers
  • Collaborate with Sales Effectiveness, Marketing, and other internal teams to enhance profitability, streamline processes, and support new business opportunities
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions
  • Ensure the implementation of value-added programs for customers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders; plan and execute regional events and sponsorships
  • Supporting in negotiations contracts with key accounts to help expand product distribution regionally and nationally
  • Lead or contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements and report safety information as per training
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies

Your experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the generics and/or OTC pharmaceutical industry, including 5+ years in sales leadership roles with proven success in team and revenue growth
  • Fluent in Spanish; proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Recognized as a mentor and leader with strong strategic, financial, and people management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Office Suite; familiarity with data tools and CRM systems is a plus
  • Strong customer orientation with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans
  • Proven leadership in change management and team development
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, primarily within Spain; occasional international travel and office presence required
