Teva is searching for a Director, EHS to join our team in Irvine, CA!

As the Director, EHS, you champion a sustainable EHS culture ensuring employee Safety & Health, Environmental protection, and enabling compliant operations and business effectiveness.


You will:


• Provide guidance to site managers and employees, conduct internal and support external audits, to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements and design corrective and preventative action plans.
• Identify EHS risks and define proactive mitigations. Ensure that site investment and changes in processes, equipment and systems are carried out in accordance with the concepts of EHS by design and relevant EHS requirements and cGMP
• Create, implement, monitor and update the site EHS plan In collaboration with the site leadership team
• Provide necessary information and data to site managers and supervisors, Global EHS and other internal and external stakeholders, in order to support the achievement of EHS objectives and enhance company’s reputation
• Create and maintain an EHS culture throughout the site that inspires a proactive attitude and a firm belief that goal is achievable. Create a space where people can speak openly and are encouraged to present new ideas about EHS stewardship.
• Develop and implement training programs, provide coaching, expertise and guidance to managers and employees of the site.
• Lead continuous improvement in EHS using Operational Excellence principles and visible-felt leadership to achieve goals and to enable compliant operations and business effectiveness
• Identify, recruit, develop and retain qualified EHS professionals to provide site services. Implement managerial practices to ensure the EHS team’s high performance, modeling company’s values and leadership framework.
• Serve as an influential member of the site leadership team; impacting decision making and taking an active role in promoting cross-site initiatives, team work and collaboration across site functions
• Bring global best practices into the site and actively share site perspective, knowledge and lessons learned to contribute and support a best-in-class professional level of EHS globally.
• Develop trusted and proactive relationships with regulatory agencies, local community and external suppliers to promote compliance and social responsibility, in company’s business interest


• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science-based degree required. Relevant Master's Degree (Safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or environment) preferred.
• Professional certifications such as: CSP, CIH strongly preferred
• 10 years of EHS experience including leadership/management and technical knowledge (such as: waste, water, air emissions, audit and inspection, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, ergonomics, lab safety, process safety and EHS management systems). Manufacturing site safety experience required.
• Basic knowledge of state and local current and upcoming legislation and current best EHS practices strongly preferred. International experience is an advantage. Proficient knowledge of cGMP requirements for products, process and systems.                           
• Advanced technical knowledge in Process Safety or Chemical engineering, practical experience performing complex risk assessments, and knowledge of applicable hazard communication and right to know regulations for US and global ex: REACH, GHS, OSHA, WHIMS, etc.
• Experience with management systems such as ISO9001; ISO 14001; OHSAS18001.
• Project management knowledge and knowledge of OPEX principles and tools preferred.
• Experience working within global matrixed environments.
