Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Has a general responsibility for all City Water Pre-Treatment Systems, RO Water System, WFI, HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Clean Steam Systems, Compresses Air, Vacuum and Laboratory Gas Systems equipment mechanical operation, controls, electrical and mechanical installation, equipment optimization, effective/efficient equipment operation, electrical/electronic systems, and preventive maintenance.
  • Completes and understands training requirements as identified by the Maintenance Manager/Group leader and/or the Teva training department. This includes all SOPs referring to the production or facilities equipment, maintenance documentation procedures, safety, cGMPs and equipment operational parameter SOPs.
  • Understanding and review of the proper use of maintenance documentation which is required under cGMPs. Examples include: Maintenance Work Order system, the CSCR system, Preventative
  • Maintenance Documentation forms, SOP documentation, and the use of Equipment Log Books.
  • Completing assignments in a timely manner from detailed engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instruction.
  • Review and write purchase requisitions for equipment requirements. Needs Group Leader approval of all requisitions.
  • Assignments for coordinating projects with vendors and suppliers up to $10,000 in value. These projects involve close coordination and supervision with the responsible Maintenance Group Leader, Supervisor, and Manager, along with the Engineering, QA/QC and Validation departments. Completing emergency repairs when necessary to offset downtime and production delays.
  • Monitors the work of outside contractors when installing, repairing or investigating equipment within the facility. Is available for emergency callbacks as required and is flexible toward work hours including holidays or plant shutdown periods. Schedules and organizes work methods, procures materials and parts, maintains a file of equipment records and manuals.
  • Follows Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures while adhering to safety codes and guidelines for ones self and others throughout the plant. This requires adhering to safety procedures and to avoid situations which could lead to chemical and steam burns, reactions to toxic fumes and moving equipment which could result in injury.
  • Other duties, as assigned, or as business needs require.

 

Primary Outcomes:

  • Provides troubleshooting and maintenance support on technically sophisticated process machinery including lyophilizers and associated equipment, controlled temperature boxes, miscellaneous house air conditioning systems.
  • This position will also require intimate knowledge of facility utility systems such as HVAC/R, refrigeration, air compressors, water chillers, boilers, clean steam systems, water treatment systems, WFI system and still, etc.
  • Directly impacts the acceptability of the finished product and the ability to produce pharmaceutical solutions or lyophilized product.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Education Preferred: Completion of vocational courses in areas such as welding, mechanics, control systems, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC/R, or Freeze drying is desirable. Refrigeration license is highly desirable.
  • Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications needed: EPA Certified, Universal
  • Experience in repair, installation, maintenance and modifications to HVAC/R equipment, air handling systems, sophisticated refrigeration equipment, pharmaceutical production equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of facility utility systems such as boilers, RO systems, chillers, WFI distribution systems, cooling towers, HVAC systems is advantageous.
  • Oral and written English communication skills are required.
  • Ability to use maintenance tools, precision instruments and testing equipment safely and accurately.
  • Understanding of single and three phase power troubleshooting and maintenance techniques.
  • Experience Preferred: Two (2) years technical schooling and/or six plus years experience as a technician or a mechanic involved with HVAC/R equipment, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
