The opportunity

As Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability Specialist (EHS), you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the manufacturing, facilities and lab processes that are both highly technical and include high hazard activities. The safety specialist will innovate and evolve a sustainable approach to develop employee and machine safety. 

Execute compliance activities to meet Law & Legislation requirements with regards to (fire) safety, global Teva EHS standards and programs. Work with EHS colleagues and operating departments to maintain compliance and continue to build a pro-active (EHS) culture. 

How you’ll spend your day

  • Observe and understand individuals' typical behaviours and procedures to determine if these practices are safe for the individual and for the company as a whole and identifies potential safety hazards in operations and works with the responsible manager to assist in solving addressing these issues.
  • Responsible for facilitating RI&E process (Risk Inventarisation and Evaluation)
    Develop strategies or a plan of action to safely managing safety issues and examine the operations of the site as a whole and safety standards are being met. 
    Participate in hazard reviews, risk analysis, HAZOPs, impact assessments and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and execute EHS Standards, Programs and Work Instructions. This will include participating in field EHS reviews, HAZOPs, audits, incident investigations and facilitating/taking part in root cause analysis with the implementation of corrective actions to prevent/reduce deviations for the purpose of  sustainable operations on site. 
  • Participate and organize safety training, provide guidance on proper use and maintenance of safety-related equipment and develop lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Drive initiatives to continuously improve EHS performance and culture 
  • Use these following systems: Safety observation system, contractor toolbox system
  • Evaluation and approval of high risk work permits.
  • May lead internal safety inspections and audits to ensure relevant standards are met.
  • Facilitate an up to date  to MRA (Machine Risk Analysis), EVD (Explosion Safety Document).

Your experience and qualifications

  • EHS experience in either chemicals, FMCG, Oil&Gaz sectors with a preference for pharma
  • 3 years minimum experience in implementing a sustainable safety culture
  • Knowledge of Dutch EHS law and legislation, permits, enforcement and industry practice relevant to pharmaceutical (chemical) industry.
  • Knowledge of EHS Management Systems.
  • Team spirit, pro-activity and positive mindset
  • Oral and written fluency in Dutch and English.
