Job Description

Key Skills:  Good knowledge on General & Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety, Fire Safety, Environment Legislations, Knowledge on the operation of ETP/STP and good communication skill.

Job Summary:

The duties of the Safety Manager shall be to advise and assist the factory management in the fulfillment of its obligations, statutory or otherwise concerning prevention of personal injuries and maintaining a safe working environment. These duties shall also include the following namely.

  1. To advise the Department Head, Supervisors and other such officers in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries.
  2. To carry out plant safety inspections/audits in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedure followed by the workers and to render advice on measures to be adopted for reducing the unsafe conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.
  3. To report and investigate any accident/incident/occupational illness at site and suggest remedial measures to prepare corrective and preventive action plan. The same to be shared with the Management.
  4. To investigate the case of industrial disease contracted and dangerous occurrences reportable under Rules 110 and 112 of the Uttar Pradesh Factories Rule 1950.
  5. To design, conduct and impart industrial safety training for the prevention of personal injuries and increase awareness among employees to achieve zero incident at site.
  6. To prepare and share EHS statistics and improvement plan in the monthly Safety Committee.
  7. To organize in association with the concerned department, campaign, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safety conditions or work and procedure, such as, National Safety Week, World Environment Day, Global EHS Week, etc.
  8. To Review Change Control request, Batch card and equipment qualification and advice accordingly.
  9. Participate in the preparation and implementation of safety SOPs related to production, engineering & laboratory etc.
  10. To ensure compliance on Work Permit System, such as, hazardous energy, hot work, confined space entry and working at height.
  11. Carry out Risk Assessment and HAZOP for any project and new product. Person should have good knowledge on Process Safety inputs, such as, understanding data from RC1/DSC/ARSST, P&ID, etc.
  12. Should have good knowledge on Fire Safety firefighting systems, includes fire hydrant system, fire sprinklers, and fire alarm system.
  13. Should have good knowledge on Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics to understand its associated risk and has monitoring experience on individual and area exposure. Guide on the selection and disposal of PPE.
  14. Should have fair knowledge on SDS/GHS for the Raw Material and Finished Products.
  15. To organize the Emergency drill as per work plan and to ensure the training of the relevant employees regarding emergency handling.
  16. Manage Relations with Regulatory Agencies, the Local Community - Develop trusted and proactive relationships with regulatory agencies, local community and external suppliers to promote compliance and social responsibility, in Teva's business interest.
  17. Any other job/ activity assigned by reporting manager as well as by the management from time to time.


Qualification: B. Tech in Chemical Engineering or Environment Engineering

Experience: 12-15 years
