Job Description

  • This position is a hands-on technical SME role, responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting Electrical controls,instrumentation, automation systems (SCADAs, PLCs, Equipment networks, BMS).
  • Periodically on-call to support 24/7 production schedule with automation troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on/shop floor troubleshooting of automation systems (SCADA, PLCs etc.), instrumentation and Electrical controls for Pharmaceucal production (Oral solid dosage equipment).
  • Maintains control system – system & application backups, virus protection, operating system patches, etc.
  • Establishing preventative maintenance requirements, maintaining spare parts management.
  • Develop maintenance and troubleshooting guidelines for automation systems through collaboration with partner departments – Validation, Metrology, Facilities, etc.
  • Implement solutions to complex automation and controls reliability and operational problems.
  • SME for automation related quality systems (CAPAs, Change Controls, and Deviations etc.)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (electrical, electronics, computer systems) or Associate Degree in Technical Field with appropriate industrial controls and automation experience. Required equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-7 years instrumentation/automation/control systems engineering experience in a cGMP-regulated industry is preferred.
  • Prior experience troubleshooting of industrial control systems, such as moon/servo controllers, variable frequency drives,PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, process instrumentation, and up to 480V electrical control equipment is required.
  • Excellent computer and computer networking skills.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs, VLANs, Profibus networks, and instrumentation is preferred.
