Job Description

Position Summary:   This position leads an organization of 106 in the production of extruded and molded polymer rings for Women’s Health products.  He/she will sets direction through four direct reports of supervisors and will develop a multi-year plan and budgets to achieve our forecasted demand.  Must be able to apply strategic and system based thinking as a second line leader to teams to drive improvements and meet site objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the budget, performance and results of a large team on four shifts to both manufacture and package finished goods.  Current shifts include days and nights seven days a week. Normal working hours is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but must be flexible to support all hours of operations and available to make decisions and direct resources.
  • Exercises full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions.  Reviews and approvers operating procedures, change controls and deviations.  Responsible for the team health of the department and the retention and development of good and top performers. Manages non-exempt employees, supervisors, and contract resources for the production of extruded and injection molded rings products.  Will work with support groups and set priorities for indirect staff to support the production goals.
  • Will implement safe work practices and process controls to ensure a safe operation of equipment and facility. May include job hazard analysis, OSHAE 1910 program implementations, safe behavior adoption, and risk assessments to drive a preventable injury work place and continuously safe process.  Takes a leadership role in LOTO such that our organization has a high standard of safe and compliant operating principles and practices to work safely.
  • Will promote a learning environment with focus on continuous improvement using tools from Operational Excellence, Lean, and Six Sigma to deliver better business outcomes and safer and more compliant routines with the production department.
  • Accountable for the performance and results of a team to include quality and compliance.  This person will be expected to have business acumen to give input to and develop annual operating plans, head count, expenses, and investment activities to support and set business objectives with senior management.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.  Decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior management.
Qualifications

Education Required:

Bachelors of Engineering required

 

Experience Preferred:

8 or more years of experience within pharmaceutical or related manufacturing facility

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications needed:

Six Sigma Black Belt training preferred

Functional Knowledge:

Solid oral dosage manufacturing equipment knowledge a must (compression, granulation, packaging).

Extrusion and polymer science experience
