Job Description

The Facilities Manager position will oversee the facility maintenance activities to achieve business objectives and site long-term sustainability for the solid oral dosage facility. The role will lead the in-house team and third-party contractors to support the daily facilities maintenance tasks, full life cycle of facility equipment from plan and procure through decommissioning and retirement, multi-year transition to autonomous and predictive maintenance.

The qualified candidate shall have in-depth knowledge and experience in maintaining facilities equipment in the manufacturing environment. Individual will work closely with cross functional departments such as Operations, EHS, MS&T, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance and Quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the performance and results of the facility operations team.
  • Manages contractor activities to ensure routine and non-routine work are completed in a timely manner, including procurement activities and monitoring for appropriate work and documentation practices.
  • Exercises full supervisory authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions within team.
  • Ensures that team utilizes safe work practices and process controls to ensure a safe operation of equipment and facility. May include job hazard analysis, root cause problem solving and risk assessments to drive a preventable injury work place and continuously safe process.
  • Supervises team to maintain departmental tasks: preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, safety, pest control, spare part inventory, confined spaces, and the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manages the team and contract resources to support the production plan and maintain the asset life cycle of equipment and facilities. Addresses issues with impact beyond own team based on knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and city health, safety, and environmental standards and building codes
  • Assists with energy management.
  • Develops and execute annual budget for facilities operations and maintenance; monitor and report variances.
  • Benchmark facilities operating costs and maintenance practices.
  • Supports facilities renovation and relocation projects.
  • Provides input and supports departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Establishes multiyear plan on system upgrade for long-term site sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, business management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of facilities management experience with at least 3 years in supervisory roles; pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Facility equipment experience required (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, chiller, boiler, air compressor and other utility systems).
  • Building Automation experience required.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP), and/or Facilities Management Certificate (FMC) preferred.
  • Predictive maintenance and Reliability maintenance experience a plus.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) and/or Certified Manager of Maintenance (CMM) certifications a plus.
  • Familiar with Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).
  • Experience in developing metrics and scorecards for facilities management.
  • Skills in negotiation, facilitation, and influencing.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
