The opportunity
The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading and driving the national commercial performance of the innovative portfolio. The role combines strong sales leadership with solid marketing understanding, ensuring effective translation of brand strategy into field execution. The position plays a key role in shaping commercial strategy, developing high-performing teams and delivering sustainable growth, in full compliance with local regulations and ethical standards.
Location: Bucharest (preferred)
Responsibilities
Sales strategy & performance
• Define and implement the national sales strategy for the innovative portfolio, aligned with company objectives.
• Ensure achievement of national sales targets, market share and profitability goals.
• Analyze market performance, competitive landscape and local market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and risks.
• Optimize field force effectiveness and resource allocation at national level.
Leadership & people management
• Lead, coach and develop the national sales team (Regional Sales Managers / Key Account Managers / Sales Representatives, as applicable).
• Set clear performance objectives, KPIs and individual development plans.
• Drive a high-performance culture through continuous coaching, feedback and performance reviews.
• Foster collaboration, accountability and engagement across the sales organization.
Marketing collaboration & execution
• Actively contribute to brand strategy, marketing plans and promotional campaigns.
• Translate marketing strategy into effective field execution and customer engagement plans.
• Provide structured field insights and market feedback to support brand positioning and tactical decisions.
• Support product launches and life-cycle management from a commercial perspective.
• Ensure consistency of messaging and promotional excellence across the field.
Key account & stakeholder management
• Oversee national key account strategy and KOL engagement.
• Personally support strategic national accounts and top-tier institutions when required.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including KOLs and healthcare institutions.
Cross-functional collaboration
• Work closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Supply Chain, Finance and the Country Leadership Team.
• Ensure strong alignment between commercial strategy, brand objectives and operational execution.
Planning, budgeting & compliance
• Develop and manage the national sales budget, ensuring efficient and compliant use of resources.
• Monitor, control and report sales activities, performance and costs.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, ARPIM/APMGR Code of Ethics and all applicable Romanian laws and regulations.
Main stakeholders
• Internal: Country Leadership Team, Commercial, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Supply Chain, Finance
• External: Physicians, KOLs, healthcare institutions, distributors, relevant healthcare partners.

Specific role requirements
• University degree
• Advanced English proficiency
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3–5 years in a sales management role
• Experience with innovative portfolios; neurology or oncology experience is a plus
• Previous exposure to marketing activities, brand management or product launches is a strong advantage
• Proven experience in leading regional or national sales teams
• Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Willingness to travel extensively nationwide
• Clean driving licence
