Job Description

Teva is searching for a Maintenance Technician III (Utilities) to join our team in Irvine!

As a Maintenance Technician III, you are responsible for repairing, diagnosing/troubleshooting, and general maintenance of facility main utilities, freeze dryers as well as the clean utilities systems through the application of your mechanical and electrical maintenance expertise, education and experience.

This position is also responsible for the operation and maintenance execution of Plant Utilities, Critical Utilities systems and Freeze Dryer Maintenance while supporting aseptic and packaging manufacturing systems.
You will use your technical knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical plant utilities systems, such as boiler, water chillers, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC and air compressors in pharmaceutical facilities and clean utilities such as purified water, water for injection, clean steam, clean air and nitrogen generations and distribution systems.  Knowledge of mechanical/electrical/controls design, servicing requirements, and spare parts requirements trades is essential; including BMS systems.


You will:

  • Perform Critical Systems Operations duties, troubleshoot equipment, and process problems with the ability to resolve quickly and correctly. Expedite repair through hands-on and allocating the department's physical and personnel resources.
  • Execute the installation, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs and modifications/upgrades of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems related to Utilities, Freeze Dryers in support of Manufacturing schedules.  Assist and consult other technicians on technical issues used in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ensure cGMP guidelines, safety procedures, and SOP's are followed at all times. 
  • Maintain a clean work area adhering to all good housekeeping regulations. 
  • Train and instruct, per SOP's and related documents, technicians in the maintenance and operation of equipment and all other job functions within assigned areas under the guidance of Maintenance management.
  • Effectively work with the maintenance organization and maintenance management
  • Effective communication with groups outside of maintenance, such as production, quality and technical teams
  • Complete logbooks, PM's, and work orders and ensure all entries are complete and correct.
  • Assist Maintenance management with recommendations pertaining to equipment upgrades, maintenance, enhancements, analysis of operation parameters of equipment and processes, and other requirements to support manufacturing operations.
  • Support smooth execution of projects within the production and packaging areas and ensure that all system maintains their validated state
  • Support the implementation of change controls and support the investigations related process equipment and systems.


  • High school / GED education or equivalent experience required. A.A. or A.S. degree or vocational courses in areas such as welding, HVAC, mechanics, electrical, control systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years in a high volume-manufacturing environment as a mechanic or technician required. 3 years’ experience within Pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar cGMP environment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs, change control processes, FDA-regulated industry documentation practices, electronic database packages (e.g., CMMS/EAM, etc.), inventory systems required
  • Computer skills including: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook required
  • Effective oral/written communication skills in English with the ability to interface with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50 lbs.
