Job Description


Manages the procurement of direct materials (API, Excipients, Packaging, devices and raw materials) to all sites in IL region.
Result oriented leader with proven success in leadership roles in the areas of Global sourcing, Materials procurement, Vendor development. Having expertise in procurement with thorough understanding of supply markets, Trends, Cost drivers along with business understanding of pharmaceutical industry.
Works closely with key stakeholders to develop effective sourcing strategies and ensure implementation including negotiation and execution of supply agreements, quality agreements etc.
Develops strategic relationships that leverage supplier capabilities, ensure continuity of supply and reduce total cost of ownership. 


General duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Manage a spend of over $ 100M annually
  • Create a complete overview of all procurement activities in the IL sites.
  • Be an escalation level in case of unsolved quality complaints, supply disruptions on case by case according to need
  • Challenge and push team to achieve aggressive savings targets, and share best practices and wins, across sub-categories and regions, and within category groups
  • Deliver savings and working capital targets for Pharma materials and suppliers in the region
  • Conduct risk mitigation activities to ensure continues supply of pharma materials in the region
  • Aligns with regional and global category and functional leaders to ensure delivery of category strategies and functional solutions within the country
  • Monitor and explore external trends and factors that impact the strategy, security of supply, costs, etc. via regular interaction with category team and professional forums
  • Own and manage supplier relationship within country, undertaking and delegating supplier performance improvement actions as required
  • Coordinating with various departments for purchasing activities and maintaining inventory in an effective manner for IL sites.
  • Actively develop and maintain knowledge-base data, and create framework of operations to ensure transfer of knowledge over time
  • Ensuring all work performed in accordance with departmental and company regulations
  • Ensured and controlled the smooth supply of Pharma direct materials required for production.
  • Collaborating with QA and suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Participate in setting of global category strategy with strategy for SRM and supply base management that is aligned with global procurement and business needs, and challenge and review it on a regular basis
  • Manage a group of regional function managers

Qualifications

 

  • Leadership or management experience: 3+ years of region/function and team leadership
  • Procurement experience: 3+ years of procurement, supply chain, or sales
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience: 3+ years preferred
  • Overall portfolio of experience in these areas will be considered
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, materials mgmt., purchasing, business or engineering is desirable
  • MBA or relevant MS degree preferred
  • Proven leadership capabilities and strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills including cross-functional teamwork, and written and oral communication skills, strong negotiation skills, exceptional analytical skills, strong multi-cultural skills, high energy level, and a bias towards action
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of professional procurement staff
  • Solid understanding of procurement best practices
  • Ability to draw strategic insights from analysis and effectively summarize and present insights
  • Ability to quantify financial benefits for identified opportunities and initiatives
  • Understanding of international business and contract law
  • Previous experience with transformation initiatives and change management process preferred
  • MS office skilled (e.g., excel and power point)
