The Position

 

We have an opportunity for a research assistant to join TEVA’s growing specialty R&D, antibody discovery program in Sydney, Australia. You would join the Antibody Generation team in a laboratory-based role focusing on antibody hit identification and optimization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on laboratory-based role employing techniques such as:
    • General molecular biology techniques
    • Protein purification
    • Development and use of biochemical assays for screening antibody and recombinant protein function
    • Culturing and transfection of mammalian cell lines
  • Work hand in hand with other teams including cell based assays, protein generation, CMC and pre-clinical pharmacology to ensure project goals and timelines are met
  • Provide regular updates in the form of presentations to the discovery project team
  • Keep up-to-date with literature and emerging trends in the discipline
  • Timely completion and review of lab book records and general lab duties as required
  • Corporate citizenship, including serving on in-house committees
  • Complying with all current Company policies and procedures
  • Presenting work regularly at internal meetings

The Successful Candidate

 

  • An honours degree in life sciences with an emphasis on molecular biology. Previous experience in research or biopharmaceutical industry roles will be highly regarded.
  • Professional experience (desirable):
    • Experience in general molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, DNA purification and analysis, DNA cloning, use of molecular biology software)
    • Protein purification
    • Development and use of biochemical assays for screening antibody and recombinant protein function (e.g. SPR, ELISA, flow cytometry and other immunoassays or screening technologies)
    • Knowledge of immune repertoire and antibody structure/function
    • Basic use of spreadsheet software for data analysis
  • Personal attributes:
    • Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, a can-do attitude and high level of integrity
    • Be well organised and able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously while working within a team
    • Communicate effectively (both written and verbal)
